I use "lol" and smiles and whatever emoticon code I can think of to try and convey the tone of voice I'm using in real life as I type my conversations to someone...to give them a slightly more "real life" convo with me.  | |

I believe we should make the most of our communication skills whilst we still have them.
I would hate to go blind and not see a smile again... or go deaf and not hear laughter... or lose the power of speech and not be able to say sorry... Language is far much more than words.. 
 I have a firm grip on reality...Maybe just not this reality   |

that was beautiful..... as for me, I also prefer personal, but it´s interesting how much time we spend on the net instead of going out and being with someone. And WHY do we do that?
