GOOEY'S NEW JOB!!!!! UPDATED!!!!

AAAAA!

What can I say? I have been without a job for longer than half a year now and I am restless. In january I sent a letter to my favourite book store in Amsterdam, on the request of their own personnel. I am a frequent visitor there and the liking is mutual.

Then they sent me a standard "we put you in our folder, thanks for writing" response back. I was very disappointed.

Then, two weeks ago, AGAIN the personnel tell me, please send in another letter. I say, they have it. Then they ask me to CALL. I do so. They lady tells me they lost my letter, please send in another one.

It sounds really messy and it is. This book store is laidback, which is one of the reasons I like going there, nut you can be TOO relaxed. Hehehe.

They get my letter, but cannot find my resume. They call me, ask me if I want to send it seperately. They tell me they are REALLY interested. I am hopeful! Only to find a "Sorry, but we already made our choice before you sent in your letter" e-mail.

WTF?

I was SO down this time. Why the hell did they want my resume if they already made their choice? I was ready to give up on them. But hey, it is a good bookstore, the presonnel is GREAT, so I am in there three days later. The personnel is now VERY curious. It seems THEY want me as a colleague.
They are totally flabbergasted if I tell them I am turned down. But at least I now get the feeling I am casualty in a store that has COMMUNICATION problems. No problem, I can adjust.

So here my smart move; I tell the personnel that likes me so much to please tell the lady that does the hiring that she made a HUUUUGE mistake. And that worked. In combination with a person anouncing she is leaving just two days after my last visit, the hiring lady gives me another call. 'Would I still be interested?'

Hella Yea!

So, I had my interview today. I went very well. I was interviewed by the hiring lady and someone that is OR a direct colleague or her boss. He and I hit it off immediately.

I was direct, fun and open, but not obnoxiously so. I did not only tell them what they wanted to hear, but also what I thought they needed to hear, which is not always the same. I was eager without being over-eager.
In short; a very fine interview. Finally. LoL

I get their answer on tuesday afternoon (after the managers meeting). The story ain't over YET!

But they'd be STUPID to scorn me now. Common, let Friday The 13th do something good for once!

THEY HIRED ME!

I JUST GOT THE CALL!

I AM STARTING ON THURSDAY!

MY LAZY DAYS ARE OVER!

No, that was just a lucky guess! When we were in town when we met you, it was on my priority list to see that store ! Coincidence to the max.

It sounds like you did great.

The stupidest thing I ever said in an interview was...

INTERVIEWER: Blah, blah, blah... Yadda, yadda, yadda... So basically we're looking to recruit for more than one position. We want a mix of people. Somebody with a head for figures; somebody who's computer literate; somebody with a gift for talking to people...

ME: Oh! So you want one of everything? You mean like Charlie's Angels?

I didn't get the job.

You're absolutely right.
I also went there for a job interview a couple of years back (we keep following each other) and they told me that you also get a free massage once a month.
