Does a black snake crossing your path mean bad luck? I was running tonight, and as I was running down the trail, I realized that what I thought was a stick, was a black snake...I damn near crapped my pants!!  but it slithered across my way and I ran off.  Does that mean bad luck? I know a black cat does...but doesn't the "serpent" mean something bad in the future? | |

I don't know about the snake being bad luck...haven't heard of that one. When I was little and we had just moved into our house. It's kinda out (in the country)....so there are a lot of snakes around here. Well, anyway...one somehow crawled through our plumbing and was in the bathroom on the 2nd floor.  That was scary....walking to the bathroom and seeing a big black snake just sitting there. As far as the black cat myth.....I had a black cat at one time,and my luck wasn't all that bad...I wasn't the world's luckiest person neither though. His luck wasn't so great though...he got hit by a car and he was only 3 yrs. old.   Four strings across the bridge.
