is it me or does everything suck these days?

as like many of the people here i was a teenager in the 80's and really have to say things were just so much better back then...i mean almost everything now sucks! 90% of the new music sucks these days..MTV isnt MTV anymore its an entertainment channel (if u can call it that) most of the movie stars suck these days...in the 80's you had Stallone now our action hero is who? Ben Affleck? in the 80's we had the video arcade's to hang out & we had the mall....now video arcade's have pretty much gone the way of the dinosaur and now the malls have givin way to strip malls!..in the 80's we used to be outside everyday playing baseball & basketball all hours of the day..now the other day i thought i would take a bike ride around the hood to see whats been up and i freakin saw NOBODY outside and it was a beautiful 80 degree day! i couldnt believe it..i thought maybe i missed some kind of government warning telling people to stay inside or something! and when i finally saw 2 teenagers outside they werent playing basketball or baseball! they were freaking playing PING PONG! shit in the 80's if somebody would have asked "hey what you guys want to do today?" and somebody said "lets get out the ping pong table!" we would have beat him with the freakin paddles!
anyways im glad i grew up as a teenager in the 80's..i really feel for the teens of today..things have turned to shit!

(phew thanks for letting me vent) lol

The 80's were unbeatable! We had the chance to witness many legendary singers and groups. I don't care what anybody says but Prince, Madonna, MJ, are all legends and nobody from the 90's or the new millineum can touch their achievments. Not Britney, or Justin , or Ashton....or I can't even think up enough popular names to try to compare unless I say Paris Hilton and she's not even a friggin musician.

And yes everything does suck these days. I used to thrive at the opportunity of replaying MJ at the GRAMMY's bustin a moonwalk ... the way he floated was untouchable and now our disgraceful world of "mediated ratings freaks" will go to all ends to mess up this mans career. I guess they never felt the magic back then. mad

Your tragically right nod

That's exactly what our parents said 20 years ago: "Ah, the 60's. Those were the days. How can you compare The Beatles, The Stones with that Sissy Jackson and that ****Madonna!"

I don't know if it's necessarily a part of the aging process. I'm 19, and I think 90% of what's being spoonfed to us by pop-culture is pure crap. Most of my favourite movies and music is at least 15 years old, if not older.

Essentially, I'm nostalgic for a past I'm not old enough to remember.

Weird how that works.

It is true...all of it.
Yes, virtually everything these days is shite and it is a part of getting older.
We all could go on and on about how things used to be and how they should (still) be...but what good is it really going to do?
It's not going to stop these idiot kids from skateboarding while wearing their baseball caps crooked and pants that look like they just took a dinosaur dump in them.
It's not going to stop these other idiots from having those noise polluting boom-boom things in the back of their cars that destroy hearing and brain cells.
And, I'll tell you what the one single cause of society taking this turn for the worse...
Parents don't spank their kids anymore...plain and simple...
Look around you...how many l'il retards out there show respect to their elders? Almost none of them (there are some, but they're heavily outweighed). The brats today can pretty much get away with murder and not have to worry about getting punished for it.
This is exactly why I'm choosing not to have any children...I simply don't want them growing up in a society that's in such great danger of falling apart as this one currently is.
To sum up...some words of wisdom from the cage of The Mad Monkey...
"If today's youth are tomorrow's leaders...fear the future."

Things were a hellofalot better during the 80's, I have nothing but good memories of that decade. Things were a lot easier back then too, no worrying about finding a decent job to support myself, it was a hellofalot more fun. I miss the 80's!!
