Hurricane Charley..... First of all, with the storm right ahead of it being named Bonnie, why the fuck didn't they name this one Clyde?!?!? lol
On a serious note, it looks like my neck of the woods is ground zero for this storm. It's prob. going to be a category 3, which is what Andrew was some years ago, and that storm WRECKED HAVOC on south florida. Sooooo.....wish me luck that god puts me out of my misery.....lol 10-12 hours of 40-130 mph winds are expected....ugh..... any other orgers in florida preparing to get hit?

I'm so glad I took the time to duct tape my windows. Now I have to wash that shit off.

I hope you'll be safe.
Where is Bartow Florida? I'm trying to look up how bad it is there. My mom just called and said my cousin called my uncle and told him that he and his little boy were laying in the bathtub and saying how the neighbors homes were boarded up. My cousin, Jake, didn't have the money to go out and buy the plywood to do his. Then, he said a tree was coming through the roof and shortly after that the phone went dead. I'm sure it's because the tree probably hit the power lines... (do you guys have those, or are they underground?). Just... be safe, you...

I didn't see this thread earlier
I'm in Sarasota, we got lucky Aries, duct tape doesn't do shit. It just doesn't work. Invest in some quality plywood and know how to secure it properly (enough overhang, etc). There's always next time Florida does have above-ground power lines, Azure. One of the greatest dangers is after the storm when people explore their neighborhood. The local news said that in one fairly recent hurricane (I can't remember which), the only casualties were from 6 teens who went exploring and got electrocuted when they got out of their car into electrifed flood water from a downed power line Once an evacuation order is issued emergency services aren't available and the streets are either jam packed or people are driving like maniacs. Better get started when it looks like it will get that bad Tell Jake to go to a shelter as soon as another hurricane is a category 2 or above or is expected to become category 2, or if local authorities issue an evacuation order or look like they're going to

My mind is more at ease to hear that you have power lines, just because that's probably why the phone went out. I'm going to pass that information on to Jake for next time. I hope. I can't imagine being there... where it's all going on, but it isn't easy being here and having family there and not being able to contact them to make sure they're okay. Jerseykrs... I hope all is well with you. I'm worried about you.

My best friends parents owned a trailor park in Punta Gorda. Everything is gone. They had one room with a roof over it and they built walls in the middle of the night so that they could have a place to sleep. They lost EVERYTHING...I mean the rent of the other trailors was their source of income so it's like they both lost their jobs too. Luckily they're alive but I'm sure they wish differently.

There's always some idiot news reporter standing outside in the hurricane, doing his report. Why do they do that?
