somebody who puts up with all your crap!

My door is always open and my phone is always on the hook. I never turn anybody away. I either love people or have no opinion of them whatsoever. There's no inbetween.

We have been friends since the age of 5..

I accept her as she is. She has her family, and doesn't always fit me in.. And I love her just the same.

My best friend and I have been friends for over 13 years and we havent ever had a fight! We may not always agree, but we support and respect each others opinions! There is no jealousy or negative feelings of any kind! She is the most amazing person! We can go months without talking and just pick up where we left off like we just talked yesterday! I feel so lucky to have someone like that in my life!
The funny thing is we each have another friend who we spend more time with and they both consider us their best friends too! They get so jealous when we spend time together!

I had what I thought was a true best friend for years, but I moved away and when I saw her again, I discovered to my sadness that we had outgrown each other. As teens and young adults we were close mainly because we were all each other had in the small, redneck town we lived in. As twentysomethings, we had nothing to connect us. It's sad, but it happens.

I'm a very good friend and a very good person in general for that. Unfortunatly, I find that I get taken advantage of in that respect. I guess I shouldn't care for others or about what they may think and feel as much as I do.

I'm 30 this year, and I am lucky enough to have made TRUE friends in real life and online, I count them just as much as I'd count anybody, I would kill for all of my true friends if I had to. I'm really a MUCH better friend than an enemy

A true best friend is some one you can always trust, someone that loves you not besides but because of your faults. A true best friend will walk around thier home at 2 in the morning to stop themselves from falling asleep as you rant about your good for nothing ex for the 12th time that day. A true best friend tells you the truth, even if it hurts to hear it. True best friends can make you laugh when no one else can. True best friends are a soulmate of sorts.

Friendships change over time - maybe you used to be at a point where her constant needs didn't bother you b/c you had more to give (time, energy, whatever). But now it's an issue & it's perfectly okay for you to step back & evaluate the situation. You have to create boundaries for yourself & others - if she can't operate within those boundaries that make you comfortable & reciprocate some things, she is not your true friend.

I know a girl who I grew up with that STILL refers to me as her "best friend" yet we grew apart years ago & hardly ever talk - go figure Some people have a trippy definition of what a "best friend" is. I feel it's someone who really understands you, who you have a bond with, who has your back & won't bug out or get pissy if you don't talk for a while (like you have to constantly PROVE you're really friends, lol), & it's ALL reciprocal.

Set your boundaries - it'll be wierd at first but worth it in the long run if you want to stop feeling used. Also, distance is a great way to save a "friendship" that's still worth having but not quite what you want it to be. That way you're not throwing the person out of your life completely, just putting them to the side where they might belong for your sake.
