Richard Pryor Appreciation Thread i just bought the 3 DVD set of his NBC show from the 70s and it's a really weird collection of shows. i didn't expect the social aspect of these shows at all. there are some really poignant moments onthere like Maya Angelou's performance piece on alcoholism and his imaginary skit with the kids at the local dump with him posing as a circus clown. Volumes 3 and 4 are better than 1 and 2 in my opinion but it's a definate good thing to have. what an artist! that was some really visionary stuff for the late 70s. oh and it's funny as hell.

you know how you can feel sorry for Michael Jackson cuz he was sooo talented and he fell so hard. how could someone so magical just fall so hard? well i feel like that for Richard Pryor except his tragedy was not self induced like MJ's.
i hope that cure is discovered.

yeah E.M. is clearly R.P.'s heir. but then again, Richard did ape Bill Cosby.

Remember what he (Eddie) said Richard said after he (Eddie) told him (Richard) that Bill scolded him (Eddie) for being too dirty? "Next time the muthaf%#¤"? calls tell him I said have a coke and a smile & shut the f%&¤# up!"

Wow, my favorite comedian.
This bad boy's expensive but it's got pretty much every thing from his early LPs and a bonus CD of unreleased material. Liner notes by author Walter Mosley. RICHARD PRYOR...And It's Deep Too! Supposedly with this 9-CD set, each CD has it's own cover complete with the LPs original artwork. RICHARD PRYOR - 1968 THAT NIGGER'S CRAZY - 1974 IS IT SOMETHING I SAID? - 1975 BICENTENNIAL NIGGER - 1976 WANTED/RICHARD PRYOR LIVE IN CONCERT (2 CDs)- 1978 LIVE ON SUNSET STRIP - 1982 HERE AND NOW - 1983 The only negative about this set is that some of this material is available on DVD. It's a clear advantage to see Richard perform as well as hear him. Richard Pryor - Live and Smokin' (1971) Richard Pryor - Live in Concert (1979) Richard Pryor - Live on Sunset Strip (1982) Richard Pryor - Here and Now (1983) There are quite a few movies featuring Richard Pryor available, however my favorite is an earlier low budget film that allows him to play 3 different characters. Which Way Is Up? (1977) Now get your Pryor on. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...rmusic.htm [This message was edited Sun Aug 8 22:47:47 2004 by theAudience] "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn.
