Unexplained aches and pains I awoke this morning with an incredibly painful and stiff knee. Sometimes I get aches and pains in different parts of my body and I can't explain how they came about. Is there an explanation as to why this happens or is it one of life's many mysteries?!

It depends on how old you are, what you physical level is, how much you excerise, what you DO when you exercise. And it could also matter WHERE the pains in your body are. In joints, and places like the knee, it could be simple arthritis. "Down by the riverbank in the old bayou.. I'm digging a grave into mud just for you."

Always when you wake up?
Or do they develop during awake time too?

I get the stiff knee too, but that's due to sports injuries. Maybe you're just getting old.

In joints, and places like the knee, it could be simple arthritis. Yeah, bang on the button! I get that shit too, but it's mainly from old sports injuries. You're right about the joint pains being simple arthritis, which is not something to be too alarmed about (age depending) coz it's just natural wear and tear usage of cartilage. It's how periodic and to what degree the inflammation occurs that is the problem. Just see your Doc to be absolutely sure. Excercise and fitness levels are also factors, like you say. There's all sorts of aches and pains which materialize from under excercising AND over excercising, esp. when bad technique is involved. I played baseball/softball for about 13 years, my knees and elbows have simple arthritis. A heating pad or cream, or a stabilizer, will usually do the trick. I had a knee injury once and did some physical therapy- that works WONDERS. True. If you don't use your muscles and joints enough, and you have poor health, they'll deteriorate on their own. Can't believe I'm discussing this at 5:30 in the morning. "Down by the riverbank in the old bayou.. I'm digging a grave into mud just for you."

Coz the gel is made from speacially synthesized polymers, when frozen, it just retains the ice cold temperature but is still malleable enough to wrap around the joints. The effects are great! I also realise now how important warming up before sports is now! When I was younger, it was straight into the game without a care "..My work is personal, I'm a working person, I put in work, I work with purpose.."

A few years ago when I hurt my knee (falling on stage, how embarassing).. the doctor gave me shots of cortizone. That stuff does NOT work. Not for me, and a lot of people I talked to. We always bitched about it, but as I got older and skipped that part of playing- I totally understood why. LOL! Waking up at 3 in the morning with a leg cramp that could kill a horse is NOT a fun experience. "Down by the riverbank in the old bayou.. I'm digging a grave into mud just for you."

Yep, glucosamine has been known to help with arthritic pain but it's one of those that only works well enough if your body is genetically specific to it (to a certain degree). My wear and tear came from sports, my injury came from being on stage doing something stupid. I could have my own stupid injury thread, I'm chock full of them. Heel problems, I'm guessing? LOL! Running in the same ol' comfy shoes for too long! Got my self some new ones just a fortnight ago. Now, I gotta freeze golf balls, so after running I roll them under my foot for 15-20 mins! Gotta 'scrunch' up towels with my foot (using my toes) before running too, until the injury starts to subside. "..My work is personal, I'm a working person, I put in work, I work with purpose.."

That was what I was going to say, too. That's the only explanation that I could come up with as to why my body aches when I get up in the morning. Sometimes, getting older is for the birds.
