The best thing about IKEA is the way they give their furniture groovy names.

The Floppen bookcase;
The Kundt chest of drawers;
The Prick candle holder...

Okay, I made these up, but you all know what I mean.

That's MY damn bed!! lol

By the way, the nightstand and the lamps that are on it (blue and green things you see there) were also bought at IKEA.

About 20% of what's in IKEA is good quality and nicely designed (at least to me)...worth the trip just to find the bargains here and there. nod

That bed is so COMFY.... love
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

My housemate has this bed:

It looks really classy, but I have NO idea how the quality is. Though she's had it for a few years and it seems to be keeping up pretty well...
I mean, like, where is the sun?

When we moved to Australia in 1978, my parents didn't know an IKEA had just opened here in Melbourne, so they filled up half a container and shipped a whole household's worth of IKEA furniture over here from Sweden. Now I have a household full of IKEA myself, some of the pieces part of that original boatload - my coffee table is now 35 years old and still looks like it was bought last year, such simple design and the quality was good.

If you want stuff that lasts, go for the solid timber pieces over veneer. Otherwise, because it's so cheap, it's nice to know when you feel like updating your look you can without worrying how much you had spent on something. IKEA rules.

The IKEA website has a great Kitchen Design Program that you can download to your computer. I designed our kitchen using the tool- it's cool, you can see the room in 3D, pick different cabinet styles, colors, etc.
Socks still got butt like a leather seat...

My boyfriend works at IKEA, so I get all the inside information lol. Actually, I've always been
fond of their stuff and usually quite enjoy putting those packages together. I find that if you
read the instructions and count out all the screws and things before you start and put them
on seperate piles, it is actually very very easy to get those things built up.

Incidentally my boyfriend is an ardent Prince fan too, and even an orger. But I won't divulge
his orgname here incase y'all gonna bombard him with orgnotes

Hihi, that's the same bed we've got!!

In fact, most of our house, including
the kitchen is from IKEA.

It's mostly pretty good stuff and it's
not too expensive.

You are officially not allowed to NOT like Ikea.
