I am good Girlfriend, DAMMIT

Today, I kept my boyfriends 9 year old son....ALL DAY! Now, I have my own kid who is 17 months, and I have a 9 year old brother, but it's different. Thank God, he was a pretty good kid and he stayed outside most of the day, but I have to admit I got a little nervous because I thought he would want to "TALK" to me eek Normally, I have no concern....when his father is around....but now it was just me and him neutral What am I supposed to say? "Hey, me and your day have GREAT sex and I will probably be your new mommy!"

I like the kid and, of course, I want him to like me....so how do I go about having a good relationship with him?? I don't want to try too hard, but I don't want to be cold either.

Either way, I kept him, fed him...and didn't kill him....I think I did pretty good

I would be yourself around him - cause that's what he;s gonna be seeing most of the time if he's gonna be around you more, so let you and him get 2 know each other that way.

That's a good start smile

Try to do some activity with him, even if it's just watching TV.

If I may add a little from the "stepchild" point of view? I was only young (5) when my Dad moved 12 hours away and started seeing a 19 year old...she was awesome to me and my brother (who was 2 1/2) but we still didn't connect with her and we were little shits. It was mainly the whole jealousy thing of another woman filling what we thought at the time should have been Mum's shoes...take your time, be there, but be patient and all will be well if it's meant to be

Kids can be funny in situations like that (as I'm sure maaaaany other people can testify) but with patience and love you will win him over and get to know each other

Anxiety

buy him whatever he wants and let him have his way no matter what. that's my advice.

your man might hate you for turning his kid into a spoiled brat, but it's so much fun. biggrin

Funny you bring the up the "Stepchild" Point of view. Earlier, he was sitting on the porch with a neighbor child and so the neighbor child asked him who he was to me. He says, "She's my dads girlfriend". The neighbor child says, "Do you like her?" and he says, "Yeah...If they get married, she'll be a cool stepmom" lol lol

Made me feel really good
