LIFE'S SOUNDTRACK... Mods, can we please leave this here> (just in case it's in the wrong forum, that is)
Do you have songs that remind you of a certain memory, person or time in your life? just a few of mine... *Kiss - "Radioactive" throws me right back to 1981 and being 5 years old *Prince - "Purple Rain" does the same thing *Supertramp - "Give a little bit" reminds me of my Stepmum it was a song we used to listen to a lot when I was growing up *AC/DC - "Highway to Hell" the same thing except for my Dad *Spice Girls - "Wannabe" always makes me smile and reminds me of my best friend's daughter and the 3 of us cruising around when she was little (and when I still had my car) it was kinda "our" song lol *John Lennon - "Happy Xmas war is over" always reminds me of my Mum...it was her favourite song ever and was the last song she heard as I played it for her the day before she died. She couldn't respond but I knew she heard coz there were tears coming from her eyes and she squeezed my hand there are way more lol but I wanna hear about all your memories...

Here I go again by Whitesnake- It came on the radio when I was leaving my X husband. I got a block away and it came on. I thought wow what a sign. Sign saying it is a good thing and lord was it ever
I will Survive by Gloria Gaynor. Sang it at a club I regulared at the night my divorce was final and my X walked through the door about the same time I started singing it. Sweet justice I do say! Surrender by Trixter. Me and my best friend when we were freshman in HS. Setting on her bed putting on makeup and talking about the heart throbs we wanted to marry. Prince has been there every step of the way since 1985. Really he's so pervasive that I look to other artists to help define the different periods. Prince is like one of my organs or something--always been there. Fear is the mind-killer.

this kinna-sorta is in the wrong forum, but i'll leave it here since you asked.
my top 3 albums w/meaning, in order: michael jackson, got to be there (1971): when i was about 5 or 6 years old, i used to play my mom's copy of this album on my own little record player endlessly whenever i would play dress-up. up till earlier this year, i thought i wouldn't be able to find a copy of this on vinyl...found a copy at a record show in february. i was so happy cuz i hadn't heard it in over 15 years. to this day it's one of the albums which brings back fond memories for me. keith sweat, make it last forever (1987): this album sorta holds bittersweet memories for me--i was about 8 years old, and at the time my dad was in the throes of crack addiction, so he'd be gone for hours at a time and i'd be at home all alone. my mom had passed away recently, so there wasn't any motherly figure watchin me at all. all i had to keep me occupied was this raggedy-assed teevee set, an old boombox, and a copy of make it last forever on cassette. i'd be playin it over and over again and just jammin out...i loved-ded the hell outta "i want her"...still do to this day. prince, dirty mind (1980): of course, this is the album that got me hooked on ol' boy but it means a lot more to me as well: i found a copy of this album when i was stayin the weekend at my sister's house when i was 15. i listened to it outta curiosity and the whole album just clicked with me straightaway--minus the whole sexual overtone-thing, it was the one thing in my life (at that point in time) that told me that it was alright to be different. i was still in junior high and i never really fit in with my peers. i got the odd comment here n'there, of course (oh, teenagedom!)--same with my mom's side of the family, they always thought of me as just "weird". i didn't know what to think...after listenin to dm a few times, it all sunk in for me: fuck what they think. keep on.

forever in blue jeans, neil diamond - reminds me of the good parts of my daddy
just me and you, tony toni tone - one of the memories of a great time in a long relationship i had when i was young and dumb. if you think youre lonely now, bobby womack - because reality eventually sets in i dont wanna fight, tina turner - that song makes me feel good. this womans work, kate bush - reminds me of all the wonderful things that come with being a momma. wide open spaces, dixie chicks - thats probably the most meaningful to me now. the picture, kid rock - it brings the past in a lovely way brass in pocket, pretenders - its just a great woman song thats all for now One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111
