In the Last Three Days I've Learned: My uncle is divorcing my aunt after 30 years of marriage because of abuse. Which I find that I am feeling happy, yet very sad about. My aunt is my dad's sister... so, it's a good thing that I don't speak to my dad anymore, otherwise I would feel even more weird at having to see her after knowing she abuses my uncle. It runs in that side of the family.... luckily, I have the smarts to know when to stop, but I've been there before and can relate.
Doesn't look so good that I've been drinking today, but, whatever... it's the weekend and sometimes I go all out on the weekends. I limit myself to a day a week. This happens to be my day this week. Dear God, I sound like I'm trying to justify it. Perhaps I am. Then... I knew that my other uncle was sick, but I find out today, in the same conversation, that he has only months to live because of a heart condition in which it is far too late to do anything about it. Yet, for the past few months, he's been functioning as normal and going to work, doing what he has to do, etc.. Then, I find out yesterday that my cousin's wife went back to being a Jehova's Witness, after leaving and being completely disowned by her parents for doing so about three years ago. During her "break" of the JW's, they had two little girls, now she's back and her parents are talking to her again... and he is a Christian and it is creating problems within their marriage because he wants to get his little girl a birthday gift and his wife will not allow it, yet... he has a son from an earlier relationship, and he can buy him gifts... so, they'll probably end up divorced. She is disowning her brother and sister because they left the JW's a few years ago... but, they were okay to talk to when she decided Jehova Witness wasn't for her... How can people just do that? Disown someone for their beliefs? Anyway... Then, my brother will probably be going to jail for his third drunk driving. Found that out. Neat. Not unexpected. My father painted his house puke yellow with vibrant blue shutters. And... my grandma is on her last legs (I only use that phrase because I tease her about it... we joke about it in fun)... which kills me. She knows NOTHING about any of this going on. Everyone is afraid it would be too much for her. My mother is having financial problems and I am her only daughter and not in a position to help her. It came out of nowhere and we just go: Sooo... I think I'm allowed a few drinks tonight. Boyfriend is sleeping becuase his life sucks. I was baking cookies for my kids when they return home tomorrow from my moms... had a few... and wow. Birthday is tomorrow... friends had a party for me. I said I couldn't come because I couldn't get there... boyfriend is sleeping and the only one sober enough to drive... I'm too weak to take them up on the offer to come and get me... so... My uncle helps put my life into perspective. I may have rough times... I've had cancer a couple of times and survived, thankfully, but, I am not as he is, knowing that his life is going to end any day now. I really wish I was more like him. Unfortunately, it's the bastard-hardness in him that gives him the strength to not show weakness. Perhaps we all need a little. I dunno. I say that about him, only because it's the truth... he's so hard, yet, he's there when you need him. I love the hell out of him and will miss him dearly... probably more than his own kids will, unfortunately. I am thankfully not his child... yet, I can admire his strengths because of that. They can't. He's a Vietnam vet who had too many flashbacks and took it out on them through their life... thinking they were someone else... and, just being an arrogant bastard the other times. WHEW! I needed to vent! Absolutely no need to post on this thread.... I just really, really, really needed to vent. On top of all of this, I THOUGHT I went to the attorneys to file for divorce and the papers were supposed to be ready this past week... nothing. My husband is friends with the secretary. I'm sure it's on "hold"... which is fine. I don't know if I'm ready for it to be over any-ole-way. . [This message was edited Sat Jul 31 15:54:09 2004 by AzureStarr]

Oh my God that sounds really horrible!
And YES, you do deserve a few drinks after that. I really don't know what else to say in a situation like this. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

It 'tis... especially all at once and knowing that everyone has to keep it from my grandmother... the one that I normally spill everything to. Gotta keep hush-hush. She'd just... well, she'd be devastated that her family was falling apart. It would destroy her. Thank you... I'm gonna have another because you said it was okay. Found this picture of the good ole Doctor up there...: . [This message was edited Sat Jul 31 16:11:02 2004 by AzureStarr]

Black Pudding! 1lt (1¾ pints) Blood (Pig, Lamb or Goose) 340g (12oz) Shredded Suet 300ml (½ pint) Milk 50g (2oz) Oatmeal 3 Medium Onions, chopped 1 tbsp Salt ½ tsp Mixed Herbs ½ tsp Cayenne Pepper Pinch Nutmeg Pre-heat oven to 160°C: 300°F: Gas 2. Mix all of the ingredients together thoroughly, making sure that the seasonings are evenly distributed. Next fill the large sausage cases, see: Sausage Making Basics for advice on doing so. Place into an ovenproof dish with a cover, standing in a larger dish half filled with water. Bake for 1½ hours. Allow to cool. Fry with bacon and eggs for breakfast or use as a part of a Mixed Grill. The most important part is you have to fry it!
