Me too!!! I saw the original film in the theater the night it first opened in our town (it was a very small town in New Mexico, so we didn't get it for two or three weeks). I was six!! Don't sweat the dating yourself thing. Those are some of the best dates I've ever had!!! I saw them all the theaters when they were released too (...yes even the first one)
I have to say that Episode III is the one I've been looking forward to the most ever since George Lucas announced he was going to make the prequels. (Now, if only he would change his mind about Episodes VII-IX) [This message was edited Tue Aug 3 13:55:10 2004 by BorisFishpaw]

There's some cool shots around that show Anakin in the corridor of the Tantive IV Blockade
Runner. Directly in front of the door that he steps through as Darth Vader at the beginning of Episode IV. Can't wait till next year.

What exactly does that do? From Late Night with Conan O'Brien: Triumph (to person in Vader costume waiting outside a movie theater for the premiere of Star Wars Episode II): "And which of these buttons calls your parents to pick you up?" OMG! That was so friggin hilarious...I think I actually fell of the couch when I saw that!

The events of Episodes VII-IX have NEVER been written about in any books. That's OFFICIAL (George Lucas has said so). I know that there have been books/comics set after the events of Return Of The Jedi, but that's NOT the same thing. Episode VII is set roughly 25-30 years after the end of Episode VI. So far, no-one has been allowed to write anything set in this time frame.

Yes, but these events occur between ROTJ and Episode VII. Rumour has it that Lucas is about to allow the writers to do novels based on his outlines for VII, VIII and IX (these all take place within a few years of the New Jedi Order Series, and focus on Jacen and Jaina as adults). The whole original concept for Star Wars was that it would be a trilogy of trilogies, with each focusing on a different generation. The only constant between the three would be C3PO and R2D2. I think that's kind of interesting considering the rule of two.

[This message was edited Tue Aug 3 6:42:54 2004 by JediMaster] Jedimaster what do you think about that audio clip? to me it implies Vader was concealing the fact he knew about Luke from the Emperor, and probably had been since Death Star 1 was destroyed. I think that's kind of interesting considering the rule of two. Actually, it could be interpreted that way, and its highly likely that's the case. The opening scroll of ESB states that Vader is looking for Skywalker, and we see his attempt to turn Luke later in the film by offering to team up against the Emperor. In the Dark Horse comic mini-series "Vader's Quest", we see how Vader discovers the identity of the pilot who destroyed the Death Star. Now he sensed the force in Luke, and just how strong it was in him, during the battle over Yavin. He discovers that the kid's name is "Skywalker", and it becomes pretty obvious that Padme managed to hide his kid from him. My theory is that he knew she was pregnant, but just not with twins. Obi-Wan seperated the kids, having one be adopted and the other hidden on Tatooine. Kenobi has the Lars family keep Luke's name intact, knowing that one day he will have to face Vader. His ace in the hole is Leia. By keeping her a secret, there is hope in case Luke is killed or turned. It could also be interpreted that Vader wasn't sure that Luke was his child, or maybe was in denial about the whole thing . Regardless, I think its obvious that Vader did NOT want Palpatine to know about Luke. He was protecting him, in a way. When Palpatine suggests that they must destroy Luke, Vader is quick to suggest that if they turned him he'd be a "powerful ally". Obviously, this was Vader's plan all along, he just didn't think the Emperor would be a part of it. Palpatine has his own agenda, of course. More than likely, he was aware of Vader's scheming (which is pretty much revealed in the books), and planned on using Luke to take him out. With Luke killing Vader out of anger, he would then turn to the Dark Side, thus opening him up to becoming his new apprentice. Cool stuff to speculate on, for sure!! I think the new dialogue is fantastic, and really fleshes out a whole lot of info. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

I'm beginning to see what Lucas was referring to when he said the new trilogy would make you think and feel differently towards the classic trilogy. I think what goes down in ROTS could actually force you to root for the 'bad guy' (Vader) in the old trilogy. I think Lucas is really going to pull this off!

If there is no third trilogy, then the series ultimately is about the downfall and redemption of Anakin Skywalker. Palpatine manages to corrupt him, but he can't eradicate the good in him. Ultimately, it is the love for his son that saves him. Not a bad message, overall.
