People Who Try to Send Viruses to Other People's Computers...

They make me laugh, because I have tight protection on this computer, no viruses are going to be able to penetrate this machine! I have Norton Internet Security, and everytime someone tries to send me a bug, I get a flashing exclamation point on the Norton icon on the bottom of my computer. I get the last laugh, because these suckers don't know that they are wasting their time trying to infect my machine. lol I have had people try to send me the BugBear virus about 6 times already. disbelief

On a serious note, though, it's ashame they can't somehow catch the people who are doing this, and send them to jail, teach them a good lesson. People who spend their time trying to mess up the computer of a person or persons who they don't even know and have probably never met either have waaaay too much time on their hands, or they're just a sicko. They need to be punished. deal

I agree, seriously, it's really sad.

Viruses fucked up my last computer completely, but now I have Security stuff.

What does the BugBear virus do?

People who send viruses really need to get a life.

I agree, they DO need to get a life. Sorry to hear that a virus messed up your computer, that totally sucks! comfort Not sure what the BugBear virus does, but I know a virus can totally mess everything up for the unfortunate person who gets it. Virus protection on a computer is an absolute must these days, sad to say. sad

sad Definitely @ virus protection.

But like you said, the people who make these damn things have way too much time on their hands. It's so sad.

Actually, my brother was talking about this 14 (!) year old kid who's made this virus, and it had affected airplane computers and stuff.

Ridiculous sad So sad.

Sorry, but Norton sucks ass. lol http://www.nod32.com check it out and see what Norton didn't find. There are many websites that attempt to drop some nasty shit on your HD. I'm not worried about email attachments, scanner or not, it's the other crap you have to worry about.

I've had 3 sent to me in the past 2 days. Just keep your protections current/updated- it's about all you can do.

Norton sucks? evillol Surprising because the way people talk about it, they make it sound like it's the shiznit for virus protection. lol

pissed I know the kid is only 14, but it seems that something should be done so that he doesn't just keep doing it. If they don't punish him, he'll think it's perfectly okay to fuck up airline computers, which is a very very serious thing. omfg

It's the W32.Beagle.W@mm virus that's getting sent to me.

W32.Beagle.W@mm is a mass-mailing worm that attempts to spread using mail and file-sharing networks. The worm also opens a backdoor on an infected computer.
The threat may be packed using UPX, and it appends random data to the end of itself, so it does not have a static MD5 value.

When the worm runs, it displays a message box with the following text:

Can't find a viewer associated with the file.

Trust me it's not. Google up some AV reviews and you'll see it's not very good. NOD32 and Kaspersky AV (http://www.kaspersky.com/) are much better options. I had Norton running for a while, thinking it would be sufficient, but then I noticed SPAM was beig sent through my computer. Norton nor McAfee found anything. Their trojan protection is just poor which is supported by reviews.

Apparently a website had dumped a trojan on my system which allowed this asshole to send SPAM by using my connection. It's things like that which you don't even notice that are far more dangerous than attachments containing worms and virusses.

I'll take you word for it, then. wink I get a lot of spam on my computer too, which doesn't make sense, since I have protection on this computer. You would think that virus protection on a computer would take care of spam too, but it doesn't. mad

No, all that they would have done, was give him a telling off. I bet. sad

I wonder if his parents know what he gets up to all the time on his computer.

Probably some cheap little thrill thinking, "Hahahaha, if I send this virus to this person's computer, it will fuck it up and they won't be able to use it, hahahaha!" Beavis and Butthead mentality. wacky

i feel ya on this one! when i check my 'inbound events' log of the firewall installed on my puter i often see attempts made to access the puter at a rate of 15 attempts per second it's awesome that people have the time to do this, or even to run a program that does this.

hackers basically suck in my opinion.
