embroidery and other hand crafts?

are any of you into it?

i love embroidery. i can't draw worth squat but i embroider anything.

am also working on some other cool craft projects, while on summer break... like recycling ordinary plastic shopping bags by cutting them into strips and crocheting them into one big bag...

so... who likes to make stuff around here? any cool do-it-yourself links?

OK,I am not gonna be embarrased.

Since an early age I have always been creative.

My Nana taught me how to knit at 4. I knit, not alot but I do knit some wild fonkay stuff.

I sew. Not great at making clothes but I do make other bits and pieces.

Obviously I draw - I mean I do it everyday for a living.

I paint and do all that artsy stuff.

I make things from wood, glass, metal etc etc

I once made a whole load of earrings and sold them in Spain.

I can embroider, make lace and other shit.

Ok - I am done mr.green

Basically, I am good with my hands nod

Knitting and sewing only. The rest was self taught or learned at school big grin

hey Heiress, I'd be interested in seeing your crocheted plastic bag... sounds cool!

I knit, sew, embroider, cross stitch, quilt, all that crap. Been doing it for ages and have always had an interest (as well as a knack) for that kind of stuff. I "fix" a lot of my clothes - because I have such a weird body, I'm constantly making shirts tighter, making trousers shorter, taking out the waist completely, etc.
I mean, like, where is the sun?

oh dang, i'm going to quilt one of these days, i swear.

recovered a bunch of squares my grandma had made and never used... stitched them into pillow covers. they're gorgeous!

i alter & customize clothes a lot too. i like vintage and that stuff almost always needs some touching up...

did you see the shopping bag link? i'll have to post mine when it's done... hope to have it finished in the next two weeks. am supposed to show another person in my american club how to do this, so she can make a few of these for a fundraiser... guess i'd better get to it, huh? smile

this is cool! I'm wondering if I'll be able to knit a bag instead of crocheting it? do you think that would work?

i don't see why not...

the plastic is a little odd to work with - takes some getting used to.

you'll need a lot of bags...

Sounds great Heiress! We had some classes at school, I made a skirt, it was awful. :neutral

I remember the teacher sniffed at it, I never wore it, I couldn't. I used it as a duster.

I can knit and embroidery and sew and cross-stitch, but, I've never completed any of them that I started. I go in head first and end up quitting after about an hour or two and never go back. I don't have the patience for it. I wish I did.

I went to look at your link, Heiress, but it said something about growing pains and how the page couldn't be viewed.

sad

oh dang... i have a PILE of unfinished stuff. i couldn't possibly work on one thing at a time...

unfinished so far are:

two embroidered skirts
two purses to decorate
two embroidered pillowcases
an embroidered tea towel
two quilted pillowcovers
that crocheted recycled bag
my daughter's paper crown (in need of repair)
a pile of mending

and other stuff i'm probably forgetting all about...

it all gets done - eventually. right now i have a good dozen projects commenced. but it takes a while.

tried the links - the one that seemed messed up was this: www.sublimestitching.com

check out the customer gallery... and jenny hart's own gallery work... if the site works. seems to be OK here.

i'm going to try making portraits and the like the way she does... i'm planning on a frida kahlo.

soon as i get all this other stuff done!
