So the dogs are called after the sausages  , that makes sense. I thought they came from Vienna and I never heard about it   This is totally cracking me up! I think we call em wiener dogs because they are long like a hot dog 
Here in the US we have a hot dog chain of fast food restaurants called Wienerschnitzel and each year they have wienee dog races. Here's some pictures:

I have a daschund named Louis (pronunced Louie, he's "French", lol). He's a long, fat, black weiner. Just the way I like 'em.
