Download Ad-Aware 6. Install it. Check for updates, install them if there are, then run it.

Actually for that paticular problem you need to download something called cwshredder to fix the problem. I will see if I can find the location of the download.

Try downloading the program with this link.

http://spywarewarrior.com...redder.exe

This tool will find and destroy all traces of the
CoolWebSearch (CWS) hijacker on your system. This
includes:

* Redirections to CoolWebSearch related pages
* Redirections when mistyping URLs
* Redirections when visiting Google
* Enormous IE slowdowns when typing
* IE start page/search page changing on reboot
* Sites in the IE Trusted Zone you didn't add
* Popups in Google and Yahoo when searching
* Errors at startup mentioning WIN.INI or IEDLL.EXE
* Unable to access antispyware tools or sites

A - ad a ware like i said ... did a sweep ... helped for a while ....

B- did that yesterday --- didnt seem to do the "update" .... and the homepage was back again as some messed up "res - jowehroahf" thing ...

C- just did that now .... thanks Raine ... not sure it did anything worth while ... but lets see ....

on a side note ... it seems like .... no matter what i do .... "apply " a new home page , etc ... it just changes it .... even after i "sweep it " .... etc ....

also the windows explorer seems like it has a "delay " ....

we shall see ... sad

My computer does this often... I can't rid it of spyware either. I have two different programs running always and sweep the computer daily with both, both saying they've removed all of them, yet, it's always still there and constantly changing my homepage... as well as making my computer run slow... among other things.

If you find any solution, pass it my way, please!

Doesn't work. Ad-aware is one of the programs I have installed and it sweeps and says it's clean, and I have it running in the background, yet my computer still becomes infested with the junk.

sad

Some forms of spyware and adware will integrate into the Windows shell and reinstall themselves after they have been removed. In other words, even though a program like AdAware may detect the spyware and remove it, as soon as you reboot, it will reinstall itself and start all over again.

In many cases, some of the files associated with it will be running in the background and windows will not let you delete them. You may have to disable various services and programs running on your system to finally be able to delete the necessary files.

One really nasty program I had a hell of a time removing from someones computer was Look2Me. More information on it can be found at http://www.pchell.com/sup...2me.shtml.

Try running a few different spyware removal tools such as SpySweeper, Spybot, AdAware, PetPatrol, etc... Make note of what spyware they detect. Reboot your system and immediately scan it again and see if any particular spyware reapppears. Jot down what they are and do a google search for manual removal of them.

Great advice... going to do that later today. It's becoming more than annoying.

Indeed Ad Aware and Spybot Search & Destroy should do the trick. Personally I think people should format their drive at least twice a year. I know people who have been running the same configuration for years and have enormous amounts of spyware/adware running.

Try this! http://www.microsoft.com/spyware

There are two downloads on that page that you can download, 1 for adware and 1 for spyware. I assure you that your pc will run better. Any questions? Send me an org note. biggrin
