Anorexia is a dangerous and sad sickness..Almost all cases of anorexia and bulemia stem from deep underlying isses that go along with being thin.. Family issues, stress, peers, and a fighting battle with yourself. I suffered with Bulemia for a very long time, starting in high school and continuing for over 10 years.. My heart is with anyone who is or has known someone or struggled within themself with both or either of these diseases. rose

Pro Ana sites are not exactly disgusting because it can completely scare someone out of the "Mental eating disorder" that a lot of women have. Seeing it can actually help.

Smooches;)

disbelief, I can relate to people who suffer from eating disorders. I am one of them. My weight has always been hard to control. I yo-yo about 10 pounds all the time. Ive suffered form bulemia, taken dangerous diet pills, and starved myself more than a few times. But teens now days take this stuff to the extreme. My neice told me that laxatives and trim spa are popular method of weight loss at her high school.

THAT'S the main problem. My mother was anorexic when I was growing up. Anytime some movie of the week about it came on, or someone gave her some book about it, she would just get new ideas. Most anorexics see the starved looking people as beautiful, and a goal to aspire to. They don't see themselves as being too skinny (and, in most cases, they can't even grasp the concept). Sites like this are just fodder for their sickness.

Well...even a bigger problem is that most people in general think the anorexic look is beautiful. Look at models...celebrities...most of them are TOO skinny. Plus, there is SUCH size prejudice in most western countries (there is an example here http://www.prince.org/msg/100/103270 ). No wonder people are trying to starve themselves.
