I'm only doing this to make petski happy, keep this in mind...

shall repeat what i already said:

first of all, they do weird food like "beans on toast" all the time. i have already addressed that issue.

and there are probably some here that are acquiring little beer guts as we speak. no names!

there's a start.

anyone else have a gripe?

i'll think of others...

Lleena is mean to 2the9s. sad

JD changed his avatar to something boring for a while. confused

what else???

ykl1 is a pain in the P&R forum's collective "arse."

Well I would firstly like to point out that some of us are rather polite and even start threads for people so they can slag us off ! wink

Secondly we are quite good at moaning about everything, especially the weather.

Thirdly I must confess to nurturing a beer belly myself confused

Right, where do I start.

NOTE - Sarcasm mode firmly engaged.

Alcopops. You invented them. Take them back.

The Euro. Get with the program guys, having the same currency as the rest of Europe is so handy. And doing all those bloody currency conversions is really getting on my tits.

Tony Blair. Don't let him back in to Nbr.10. (And yes I know that means letting the Tories back in but Blair & Co. are just Tory Light anyway).

Imperial measures. Give them up. OK, I know the very idea tugs at your heartstrings, but you've got to admit metric measures make sense, imperial ones don't.

Big Brother! Ye invented that boring bastard of a program too! You guys have a lot to answer for!

Apart from all that, and 800 years of oppression, I have no gripe with the British.

Oh shit! Was I supposed to be griping about British orgers. Oh well.

I don't think I have any gripes about any of our British orgers, I'll try to think of something.

Just in case anyone takes any of that seriously I would like to stress again that I'm not serious. And having lived in the UK for 8 years I quite like the place, and the people.

Yeah... and that British money is HEAVY. eek

Hey, I have another gripe...

Why do so many British guys look so good up until the age of, say, 25 and then go completely downhill from there??? hmm

There is much about Britain and Britishness that I truly despise. Britishness is fundamentally a 19th-century concept based on an imperial world view. I hate that whole sense of tradition which can be summed up in the phrase ‘Queen and Country’ and ‘Rule Britannia’.

Well, now it's America and Bush... Be grateful for us, you look quite innocent in comparison. sad

I have French nationality, so I can always say I'm a French person of American origin. But America to me is about the landscape and the nice people, not politics... most Americans don't even vote, man. So I can still feel proud to be American, in my own fashion.

Well, don’t get me wrong I love Britain’s eccentricities. The fact that we are defined as a nation of tea-drinkers makes me smile. I love the fact that culturally we have a lot to be proud of-in terms of the arts. Pretty much defined by The Beatles. I love that our national dish has become curry. I love the beautiful countryside. I love the uncertainty of the weather. Yet in this sense, I don’t feel a sense of duality – I feel more English than British. The Empire is over and, as Britain is being devolved down into its component parts, there is a loss of identity of what Britishness means which personally I think is a good thing. I like to think that the concept of Britishness has become a plural one, with people happily defining themselves as black British or Chinese British etc.

Yet this is what I also hate about Britain. The fact that many in Britain are not willing to accept and welcome the fact we are becoming a multicultural society and those who cling to the idea of ‘Great’ Britain. It’s shameful and racist. I have difficulty seeing the English national identity in a positive light when its captured by soccer hooligans, lager louts, and right-wing John Bull
caricatures.
