British Orgers

Going back to the UK on the 30th, what's going on in Eastenders?

Remember that I haven't seen it for 15 months. big grin

Is Frank in it, fat Pat? Ricky? The Italians, no wait that was ages ago.

Any characters still in it from that time? Mark? Pauline? The bad boy Fowler son?

... Old Vic still there?

... the Italians are gone (even Bepe).

Rickaaaaayyy is gone.

Pauline is still grumpy.

Bad boy folwer son ? Martin ? Is now what Arnie would describe as a girlie-boy, and is besotted with Sonia who got over the death of her beloved Jamie all too quickly (who was killed by Martin incidentally).

Ian is still alive.

Dirty Den is back !

other than that nothing has changed.

Same shit, different day.
Lemmy, Bowie, Prince, Leonard. RIP.

Ian is alive???? That's a travesty!

I remember Jamie getting killed. That was not long before I left the UK.

My parents are (or at least were) die-hard Coronation Street fans. I don't know whether I'll be able to take it. Brits get too caught up in the soaps. I was happy to get away from them (the soaps, not my parents... as much).

Still, curious all the same.

So do you want to be brought up to speed on Corrie as well ?

BTW, it's not my fault I know so much about soaps, it really isn't. I try to avoid them, honestly. It's my wife, she makes me watch them.

No, thanks. I don't like the soaps, but I do remember how easily u can end up watching them most nights. They were always on in the house at dinner time so they were unavoidable. I'm sure nothing has changed and my parents will still be following them.

Oh. shrug Well in that case I don't think I'll bother watching TV then. I've only got 6 weeks there anyway so it's probably better that I don't sit in front of the idiot box too much.

You don't like soaps ? Hang on, I though this thread was all about your love of Eastenders ?

It's OK to admit you like soaps, we won't mind. We'll treat you as if you're feeble-minded for doing so, but it's good to be honest with onesself.

Personally, I don't watch soaps at all, I just happen to be in the room when they're on.

And PLB is right, there's nothing on TV anymore except "Reality" shows, and soaps of course. Incidentally, the soaps are now less scripted and more ad-libbed than the "Reality" shows.
