Ur fav Disney movie and why?

So, so many but, at the moment it's "The black couldren" (1985)

I generally like swords and sorcery, and this was a good, at times qite dark (4 disney) attempt at a Lord of the rings type film.....

Love the style of drawings and it looks beutiful, also no songs to ruin it and 4 once the sidekick 4 the hero (gurgie- the little creature/thing) is one of the best characters in the film!

The bad guy, the horned king is great too, and the hero, Taren is not annoying and caries the story well.....

Film suffers in the 2nd half, after they meet these annoying, cutesy faires- but upto then, the films a blast to watch and 4 me, dispite a poorer story struggling 2nd half, this film was a brave attempt to bring a more mature audience to a disney film!

Not since the lion king, have disney moved on and this film. A huge financial disaster at the time, (it took many years and was their most expensive film ever apparantly) got no home vid release 4 years becuae of it, but I really admire disney 4 this film and 4 some reason, I think this film deserves more props.....

follow ups:-

2)Oliver and company (love the 80's songs- fun, moves fast- one of the best endings to any film peoiod)

3)The fox and the hound (another lost disney film- one of few films to actually have quite a sad ending, some bits really bring a tear to my eye

.....list goes on and on.....what r ur favs and y? Or do u prefer non disney animated films?.....

1. Sleeping Beauty, because it is always been my favorite fairy tale, it is beautiful to look at, has decent character development, a beautiful soundtrack and a great villain.

2. The Lion King, it is visually stunning and at the time of it's release there had never been a cartoon with animation as wonderful as that. It's Hamlet for kids, Hamlet is my favorite Shakespeare play. It has a good soundtrack and also a great villain.

3. Lilo and Stitch, it's hilarious, has great characters, I can relate to both Lilo and Stitch in too many ways to count, it deals with issues that everyone can appreciate, and there is a cross dressing one eyed alien in it.
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

My favourite animated movie is:

Why? Hmmmm..well. I've always loved marine life, and have since a child believed in mermaids/men. I'm also a Pisces fish That may have something to do with it. And basically, it was just a brilliant film. Good music, memorable characters, nice colours, good message, etc... People can laugh but I know they exist..or at least they did. biggrin

eyepop

have you by any chance read The Chronicles of Prydain on which this movie is based on?

They are a truly lovely set of books. I was a bit disappointed in the minimalist translation into this Disney film, BUT (as you noted) it was a huge break (at the time) for Disney animation and I have a much bigger appreciation for the film now.

You get 100 points for mentioning this movie smile

You can't choose between Disney movies - they're all classics.

But if I had to choose I'd take The Little Mermaid, which was the first Disney movie and the first movie ever I got for a Christmas present. It has the most memories so it's the dearest for me.

I love also The Beauty And The Beast and Mulan, and the music in Lion King.

I absolutely loved this movie as a child. I thought it was funny and brilliant. Great numbers too. Merlin was da man!
