thanks for sharing....that's a remarkable story...all the best for you both.

It's hard to say that good could come of something such as this, but it has fortified Mon's character and actually brought us closer together through dealing with it. I think in working this out Mon has found qualities in herself she never thought she had. I guess that's the best u can do since u can never turn back the clock and erase what happened. Mon wouldn't be the person she is today had she not had to overcome this, and compared to the scared, insecure person I first met she has changed dramatically. What else can you do but try to overcome something like this and use it to grow stronger?

This is a crazy topic to be replying to (for me) but yes, my best friend's brother is serving life for murder. I've talked to him on the phone before but never met him. My friend said he was always really troubled growing up as in he swore demons were chasing him.
I remember hearing about him believing he is going to break out of prison, he's got it all figured out with helicopters and everything to assist in his escape. nuts

My father served in the Viet Nam war, so of course, he killed people. He was drafted. It was a very difficult decision for him to actually show up, instead of fleeing to Canada or facing time in jail. He will not talk about it much. According to my mother he is a very, very different person now than he was before. I guess you could say, How could you not be different? But it's like he's still not over it. I guess I wouldn't be either.

As for rape, I know far too many women raped yet I've never met an admitted rapist. Probably just as well. I wouldn't be very nice to them anyhow.

I read in the paper that the guy who used to live downstairs from me killed his mother and hid her body for quite a while. He was the typical quiet, polite and unassuming guy next door, we always stopped to talk, but he seemed nervous and never walked anywhere, always ran.

A guy I went to school with shot his best friend over a drunken card game, he had a crush on me in grade 3, and he was my best friend's cousin, so I heard that he is still in jail.

I just wanted 2 thank every one of u who shared sometimes painful stories.

The rapes stories were particularly sad & i admire ur courage, men & women...

The tragedy is that a rapist left alone will probably keep on raping girls 'til someone acts, & this is why i always try 2 convince girls who have been raped 2 try a legal precedure, though i know how hard it is. Staying silent means admitting that others will b raped by the same man...

It's such a complicated matter...

Peace 2 y'all, & let's pray our children will grow up in a world when all that shit is less present (FACT: in our so called "civilized" western countries, around 65% of women get abused at least once in their life !).

killed? ooh boy.....yes, but it was an incredibly tragic drunk driving accident. The drunk driver's best friend was killed. sad

raped? I wouldn't say I "knew" him, but I met him under very unfortunate circumstances.
