That's actually one of the better places to live, from what I hear. Sparsely populated. smile

Erm. No.

We are talking about Diva. You might know her. Being fellow Ozzies n all.

And Ian is her bf. Her GORGEOUS bf. From the US. See the link?

Gorgeous indeed! love

I miss him so much my Gooey... however, he might just be paying me a visit soon!

I wish you and your girlfriend all the best mrdespues, I definitely understand how hard it is to be so far away from one another, it can be torture at times... but when something is worth fighting for, you do just that, fight for it.

I finally have got the funds together for my plane ticket and I'm going to be leaving for the States in about 3 weeks (haven't booked the flight yet though) where I will be staying with my girlfriend whom I've been with for over 5 years. We actually "met" on the net eight years ago and have been travelling backwards and forwards between the U.S. and Australia for, as I said, about five years, every six months or so. So I can tell you that both net relationships and long distance relationships CAN work! Not to mention that we have a height difference (she's quite a bit taller) - that can work, too! lol

Well anyway, there comes a time when this constant travelling becomes pretty expensive obviously and we're pretty tired of not being together for such long periods too (longest we have been apart is six months - pretty long!) so we're going to decide this time around whether or not we want to get married. And we're both pretty sure we don't want to be apart anymore, so the chances we will get married are pretty high!

Anyway, I thought I'd show that off that with all of you as jonylawson created a similar thread which gave me the idea. Although I haven't looked into the logistics of how to go about being married to a U.S. citizen yet, I'm pretty optimistic things will go great!

biggrin

Here's a pic of both of us together last year in West Head, Sydney:

Anyone else doing something kinda big soon? Anyone moving, etc?

I am so happy for you both. It gives me hope as i am in a similar situation.. i hope it all works out for you. Am gonna show my love this as we are both real sad at the moment.. this has given me hope. I guess 9 hour to washington is not the end of the world..

Thank you and may you have years of happines together. heart

Hi All,

John (mrdespues that is) sent me the link to this thread to read (this is his gf writing). Thanks for being so supportive and helpful! It's going to be awesome for us to be together for good, but there's also a lot to consider and sometimes it feels kinda overwhelming, so I was happy to read all your comments and I appreciate them a lot!

Cheers!

Oregon is lovely. My mom's family is from there, and we own a bit of property between all her siblings, so I've spent a large deal of my life up there (mostly in Portland, Corvallis, Depoe Bay, and Odell Lake). You're gonna love it...

woot!

That's where my mom and all 5 of her siblings grew up! They still own the original house... but I tend to like Portland better, it's bigger and has more action. Corvallis is small... but they have Woodstocks Pizza!
