It was supposed to be cut down in May but it never happened!

I think my landpeople are afraid that the tree will fall over and crush the house, causing major liabilities and damage. One of my housemates suggested that maybe it's rooting up the foundation.

Whatever the reason is, it's sad. It's a beautiful tree. Gareth suggested we tie ourselves to it when they come to cut it down...

Okay, I have a question for you avacado aficionados. The only avacados I've ever had were from the grocery store, so I have NO experience whatsoever with "wild" avacados. These guys look different - they are rounder and not squishy in the slightest. In fact, they are rock hard!

Do I have to let them ripen? Or is there an outer shell I'm supposed to crack through before getting to the good stuff (like a coconut)? I assume they are somewhat ripened up since they fell off the tree on their own free will. I feel stupid asking these questions but I want my avacados!

Fresh avacados are gonna be different from the ones they sell you at the store... bigger too.

If they fall on the ground they're good... even the ones you pick, if the right color and size are good too. They're gonna be hard too. You can either let them sit for about a week on your counter or something, until they soften... or place them in a plain paper bag and they will usually ripen overnight (just don't forget them... )

Mmmmm, mmmmm..... avacados.

aha! thanks for the answer, June. I just woke up and looked out the window and saw another avacado on the floor. So I ran outside and grabbed it - this one is smaller but it's already kinda squishy!

There's also this little baby tree growing out of the trunk of this tree.... it's cute
