The N-Word on TRIO

The N-Word on TRIO
TRIO Original (2004)

Easily the most inflammatory word in the English language, the word "Nigger" has smoldered in the American psyche for over a century. But as we enter the 21st century it has morphed from a source of degradation and embarrassment to a nickname, freely traded among African American and suburban MTVers alike. Surf the web, eavesdrop in the lunchroom, the "N" word is alive and well. Far removed from its horrific origins, the word has seemingly lost its power to insult and enrage. Or has it? This topic and more is examined in the THE N-WORD, recounting America's troubled but evolving racial dialogue. From minstrel shows reaffirming racial stereotypes to Richard Pryor bringing the word to the mainstream, Trio explores the history of the word and how it has been used over the years.

Sorry, I was late as a freight with this.
That would have meant the last showing was @ 9pm on 7/10 here in L.A. doh!

I should've posted it earlier on the M:N-P forum due to the commentary by Chuck D/Ice Cube and music critics Stanley Crouch/Nelson George.

This is a relatively new network (on my cable system anyway) with not a lot of programming.
What they have been showing is pretty eclectic though.
Chances are The N-Word will repeat sometime next month.

Timing is everything. neutral
