i can't be around women like this for very long. if you're with someone who treats you like shit and brings out your worst qualities then ask for the strength to leave, don't just whine and do nothing. I realize that it can behard to do but goodness...staying in relationships like that doesn't do you any favors.

While it is easy for someone outside of a relationship like that to realize or say to leave, it is extremely difficult for those in it to find it in themselves to do so. A lot of the whining and bitching about the relationship is sort of a release for that person, and, they do know that the relationship is wrong, but it is very difficult to up and leave and, oftentimes, the abusive partner can make the other feel as though they cannot find anyone better.

I've found/learned that in relationships like these the person who continually ends up in these sorts of relationships are drawn to that type of partner due to issues with their mother/father or their parents relationship. Until those issues are dealt with on an inner level, it is difficult to break the cycle of continually falling for the same type of men/women and finding themselves in the same type of relationships.

---AGREE 100%---
Damn there is some ignorant shit being said here.I've had many friends (men) that have been in bad relationships. With her being the one treating him like shit. But held on cause they loved them and wanted to work it out.Or growing up that is what he was around.People will take alot of shit in order to stay within there comfort zone.Just the way it is for some.Has nothing to do with them being women.Thats just straight fuckin stupid.

seems too easy to blame it on the parents relationships, my mum and sis are both stuck with "dickheads" but i'm not and never will.it's all down to the individuals self esteem and will power to either get out of such relationships or not get into them in the first place.
well thats what i think anyway.

nod well put. it's always far more complex than somebody on the outside can understand. it can be tough to stick with a friend who seems to be unable to get out of a bad relationship, but it's the most important thing you can do for them. it took my friend over 3 years of serious contemplating, leaving and going back, to finally leave her mentally abusive husband. i'm so proud of her - it was the hardest thing she's ever done.

In my opinion people who stay in bad relationships usually have not bothered to work on themselves....To improve their mind, body, and souls and really get to know themselves. So many people in this world don't try or attempt to know or improve or if they do they half ass it. That's where you get your strength from....In your ability to know how bad your situation is or is becoming and having the faith and strength in yourself to leave it without pause. Comfort level, fear, love all of that is a moot point to people who got their shit together they see the bigger picture....The blame is placed squarely on you.....It's the same thing when people blame the drugs for drug addiction or blame the drug dealer....Ultimately YOU make the choice to do the drug unless someone ties you down and sticks a needle in your arm or a crack pipe in you mouth you are to blame. Same with bad relationships if you feel that being with a man or woman is the be all end all purpose of your life and you are willing to suffer through whatever pain or discomfort that person inflicts on you then you are the problem...

You will only continue the pattern of bad relationships if you don't address making YOU a better person....But that is the thing people busy themselves with life and all its distractions instead of taking time to work on you....and because of that YOU are the only one that will suffer from that. I will admit I don't know what its like to be in an abusive relationship...I have family who were and are and Im sorry if anyone here has been in one or is. The reason I don't know about it is because I know not to get in or stay in one....Im not going to say Im sorry for ME knowing in myself that I can and will do better....For knowing that life is a Journey not a Destination and that just cause I love this person and have to leave them does not mean I won't find love again or life is over. Once you work on yourself you will learn Patience is your sharpest tool in life....And once you work on yourself and not use boyfriends or girlfriends as a crutch in life you will understand that even if you have no spouse you are never alone....You always, ALWAYS have you....

This is just my opinion....and my 2 cents...Sorry if anybody gets offended...
