Sinister

My dog just died.....

At exactly 6:45 pm my parents called to inform me my dog Reese just died from Tick Fever....I have had him since 2000 he was healthy last week but he had gotten Tick Fever recently. He got it when he was younger and I had to pay $600 dollars to get him a transfusion cause he has thin blood....Well that was in 2001 and now he died today....My parents left me a message cause I was sleep at the time what a way to wake up. I loved him very much and he lived with me for 2 yrs before I took him to my parents so he could guard the yard for them....I used to see him almost every week but I missed the last 3 weeks and now I can't say goodbye... Im kinda numb right now....I have had dogs my whole life and death is something you get used too but its been a bad few months so this hurts a bit more....

bawl cry I'm so sorry to hear about your dog passing away. I have lost several pet cats throughout the years, so I know it's not an easy thing to go through. Pets become a part of our lives and our family, and when they die, it leaves an empty spot in our hearts that can't be filled. Take care of yourself. hug
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

aw man, that's sad. my best friend's kitty rachel died last year and it was like losing a family member...she was around when we were in college over ten years ago, she was with us when we moved out to new york city, she was around to be petted and to play fetch (i love cats who play fetch) whenever we were in the mood to play with her. when i moved to chicago and left my friend and her kitty behind in NYC, don't think i didn't consider a conspicuous cross-state kittynapping. when i got the news over the phone that the ol' gal passed away, it broke my heart. i was friends with that damn cat longer than i've been acquainted with a lot of so-called "friends". anyway, i've gone on long enough about this - i'm really sorry ya lost your puppy, it's a really really sad thing to have happen. cry

Thank you guys for the concern, stories and kind words...Like I said I have had dogs my whole life but when they pass away from old age that doesn't get to me so much...It's when they get sick or if there is an accident then I feel helpless I feel like there could have been something I could have done if I had been there sooner....

ugh I'm sorry Sinister. My grandfather just died, and when I was in London last year, BOTH of my guinea pigs passed away. It hasn't been the greatest of times.

I know it's hard not feeling like you could've or should've done something, but sometimes things just happen, no matter how sad things are. I know that feeling too well. It's not your fault.

I've lost pets before too-had a cat that meant the world to me that died in 2000, that I had since first grade, and I may not never fully understand why, but I've got the memories. I think that's the thing that got me through those times the most-you might never have technically got a chance to say goodbye, but those memories you have of your dog will never go away-that's your own personal way of keeping your dog alive. Memories never fade.

Nobody has shared those exact moments you have-and I like to think there's a special pet heaven where they know they're missed. People that never really had pets/weren't that attached to them may not get it, but those who know really know how it is.

It's like losing a family member and I know it really sucks right now, but it will get better-hang in there and know there's people that have gone through it and are doing better now.

Sorry to here that Sinister. Losing a pat is always sad. You feed your pets and care for them day in and day out. For this, they love you, unconditionally and the feeling is mutual no doubt. I guess anyway because I'm sure it will hit me hard when our cat will die.

I hope if you choose to get another dog that they will bring you as much joy and happiness as Reese did. Best wishes.

So sad. I have had my kitty for 18 years (since I was 11). She has grown up with me. I will be in a state of mourning for months when she goes. I can only imagine how sad. sad
