Pigeons and Doves

Are pigeons just grey doves or are doves just grey pigeons?

They're from the same family I believe. I saw a really pretty dove by my ex-father-in-laws house the other day.

There are several different dove breeds, but they all belong to the pigeon family. So, a dove is a pigeon, but a pigeon isn't necessarily a dove!

I've been told that doves cry a whole lot. Very sensitive, overly-emotional birds.
