2 Years Ago...Kim's Last Call Kim's Last Call It never should have happened it seemed just a routine call They responded as they always do giving every run their all They jumped into the truck his wife was at his side That they were both on the department gave them a great sense of pride The car fire on I-35 was already out when they got to the scene that day Just some paperwork to finish up and they'd be on their way The sound of squealing tires broke the calm of that sunny morning There was no time to react the car struck without any warning A call went back to the fire hall 'we've got men down' it rang so loud Those on the scene stayed on duty their Captain would be proud He lay there on the roadside waiting for Life Flight to arrive His brothers did everything they could to ensure that he'd survive The doctors fought for hours and they gave their all But God had other plans for him and made it Kim's last call One of us was taken Home a Son, a Brother, a Husband, a Captain on the Esko Volunteer Fire department the very best Dad, and friend But he lives on in our memories in his little girls' smiles and eyes And as somebody taught me a true friend never says good-bye 'Cause Kimmer will always be with us in our hearts and thoughts he's never far away And I know that when the time comes we'll see him again someday. In memory of our best friend Captain Kimmer Granholm August 17, 1973 - July 1, 2002 Please everyone DRIVE SAFELY and ATTENTIVELY and have a GREAT holiday weekend [This message was edited Thu Jul 1 8:02:30 2004 by EskomoKisses] | |
