Prince Signs Exclusive Deal with Universal! (Taken from an internal email)
UNIVERSAL MUSIC PUBLISHING GROUP SIGNS PRINCE TO AN EXCLUSIVE WORLD-WIDE PUBLISHING DEAL I am pleased to advise that we have just signed PRINCE to an exclusive world-wide publishing administration deal. This deal includes his extensive and remarkable back catalog, including such landmark albums as PURPLE RAIN, SIGN O' THE TIMES, DIAMONDS AND PEARLS and 1999 and such notable songs as "When Doves Cry," "Lets Go Crazy," "Little Red Corvette," and of course "1999." It also includes the remarkably successful soundtrack to Batman. As one of the most talented and prolific artists of our generation, it is a tremendous coup for UMPG to have landed this deal which took over 2 years of pursuing for us to sign! [I'm keeping the source confidential at the moment... until we find out for sure this is true, and what it means... could be big! -Ben] [Bart wrote in to help explain... check out the following -Ben] http://www.music-law.com/...shing.html [update from Paul Audino (psaudino@interaccess.com)...] To those of you who were doubting last week's report of Universal signing Prince to a publishing deal, check the credits of The Rainbow Children CD, which clearly show that Controversy Music is now administered by Universal. | |
