Morning all

Just need some help in ascertaining whether the N.E.W.S CD I've just bought is a bootleg or the real thing. A few years ago some of my collection mysteriously disappeared and now I'm getting round to building it up again - but blimey - some of the prices have really rocketed. Any particular reason?

Also I'm trying to upload some photos of it using photobucket but it's a nasty place with pop up adds that crash the browser constantly.

If anyone has an alternative, easier method of putting in photos please let me know!

The packaging looks identical but the CD is slightly different.

Where yours states MS01, mine says M1S2 in a different print style to the rest of the text around the centre.

Yours & Pandurito doth have this version (as do I) https://www.discogs.com/P...ase/498508 the vaious matrix codes are listed.

If you have not used Discogs and are a record collector I would strongly advise to spend some time looking about as it is excelent for working out release versions and for cataloging your collection.

EDIT - on further inspection it seems that Pandurito has suorced the above photos from here....

Yep, I use discogs.

It has been an awful discovery. I have spent far too much money on buying CDs that 6 months previously I never knew existed and now I MUST HAVE them!!!!

But on a serious note I think that even though great as discogs is, considering the price that some of the Prince catalog is going for nowadays, I do feel the need to check with independent sources (like the good folk of prince.org) as to whether things are legit.

doesn't the news album load a slowly developing graphic when you put it in the computer?

a text that turns out to say something like 'he who causes to become'?

i suppose bootleggers wouldn't bother with copying that.
