Another vault book

I am selling my copy of The Vault, it is in perfect condition. Like new.

I am also selling the cassette gift box version of The Most Beautiful Girl In The World.

And finally, an XL size NPG shirt from 1995.

I put in the first bid. If I win it, I'll try to find a library that would want the one I just bought (which isn't in great condition). But I think you will do better. Good luck!

Thanks Electricberet. If you do win, hopefully you will be able to sell your old copy and get your money back. I'd like to see this book going to someone who will appreciate it and not to some dealer. But unfortunately I am in need of money at the moment.

I can't believe the prices I see some stuff listed on eBay for. The TMBGITW gift box I have listed, is currrently for sale on eBay from another seller for $231, that is crazy. It's a nice item but it definitely isn't worth that much. After all, it's only a cassette single. If someone is willing to pay that kind of money for it then, sure I'll take it but I would prefer to see it go to some Prince fan as a gift for his girlfriend for a few dollars.

I also see a Gold Experience CD for sale for $154. This is just a regular Prince album that could be bought in any wrecka stowa in the world in 1995. Who comes up with these prices!!

I think there should be at least one copy in a university library, maybe the University of Minnesota, which would be a logical destination for someone doing research on Prince. According to WorldCat, the only library that has it is the National Library of Sweden. I'd be willing to donate an extra copy if a library promised to keep it and not sell it. But I want one copy for myself first!

I posted in another thread about an Apollonia 6 CD on sale with an opening bid of $850. Someone complained that the price is unfair. Well, it's just supply and demand. Certain Prince-related items are hard to come by, and if there are suckers like me who are willing to pay serious money for a legitimate pressing of a rare CD or something like The Vault, the prices will go up, and there's nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is when people make money by selling bootlegs that can be downloaded for free.

Looks like I've already been outbid. Hope this one finds a good home!

Interestingly, Per is from Sweden, I wonder if it was he/the Uptown team who had something to do with the book being placed in the National Library.

As for the bolded part..... Amen.

The book was officially published in Sweden and therefore automatically went into their National Library.

It's the same in most countries, if we had published here, it would have gone into the British Library automatically.

That's what I suspected. The equivalent in the U.S. is the Library of Congress.

Well, I'm not sure I can argue with that, since my wife thinks I'm crazy for buying one. lol

Tell your wife that it was an investment. You are saving for the future. Tell her it's guaranteed to go up in price, far better than stocks or shares. She probably won't believe you though(and she'd be right).

I've already told her all that. The problem is that she's too smart to believe any of it.

Wow. I didn't think it would go for that much. Seeing as how it's St Patricks weekend It must be a bit of the luck o' the Irish.

Hi Someone,

There was absolutely nothing fishy about the auction whatsoever. I was the seller, electricberet has already stated he was a bidder. The person he was bidding against throughout the auction is a European Prince collector who has purchased from me before in the past. The person who won the auction only came in at the last minute which is a normal bidding tactic used by many people. The winner has already been in contact with me and has paid.

Declan.
