Soft & Wet 7" with adapter Fraudulous EBAY listing

Beware :

I think I should share my experience with the seller offering the following record on EBAY :

http://cgi.ebay.com/PRINC...564441b420

Like most hard collectors they look after the collectibles sections of most Prince websites.

I thought it could have been a nice add to Sleevo and I don't remember seeing it b4 .

This record has NO adapter.

I ordered it and send it back to seller. The seller admitted he had add the adapter on the picture.

He has relisted the record in the same conditions.

Beware of this guy, he knows what he does. After numerous polite e mails, He agreed to refund full order plus back shipping ( that I truely think I shoudn't have to pay ). He did not refund back registered shipping after promising .

DON'T BUY THIS RECORD (if u want the adapter )

P

Any opinion welcome.

This is about an adapter not seperated but built on the center of the record.

Like some records with or without barcodes, fanclub adress or not, different labels an so on ... They are referenced separately.

Moreover, you don't add something on a record on a listing especially without selling it or telling so.

Why would any record "come" with an adapter "built on"? That doesn't make any sense to me. If it had an adapter built into it, then you would need a 2nd adapter to play it on a turntable built for '45s. I also don't see any mention in the listing of an adapter (except in the picture)... Maybe I'm missing it...

There were 45s that had a spinner molded into the actual vinyl? This is news to me. I thought they either had a large hole, or an LP-style small hole.

If this is true, I just learned something.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

I couldn't Google find a single 45 that had this feature.

I have a few of these prince singles with the middle punched out. I bought them new in the UK in the late 1980's. The adapter did not come as standard, was not part of the record and it was purchased separately. The adapters are only worth only a few pence. I can't see the ebay advert had any problems. If the record was shipped without the plastic adapter then the seller did nothing wrong and was generous to refund the money.

On the other point. There were other records sold where you could punch out the centre yourself. The centre was fixed at three or four points so easy to break. Once punched out you would need the other plastic adapter to then use it with a standard record player. See pictures on this link:

Thanks for that link. I've never run across any of those 45s with a scored, pre-made adapter molded in, so that's a very interesting tidbit. I'll assume that many of those were punched out and few survive intact. The question is: Which Prince/related, if any, 45s have this particular feature?

I'm in the US, so most of my 45 purchases were pressed here and had just the large hole requiring a separate adaptor, as I'm guessing this punch-able center may have been a regional thing on other shores.

If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

7" with the large hole inside were designed for jukeboxes as far as I know.

My collection of 7" varies from release to release. Large hole, small hole to small hole with punchable area.

I have a few adapters such as these:

in order to play on a conventional turntable. But most turntables include a little disc if necessary.

Not including one of the above adapters is no call to cause a fuss and demand a refund. Its no big deal.
