Soft Pop 80s Track of the day - "One on One" Hall and Oates

LOOOOOVE this song!! A classic song about yearning for the affection of another...

I'm tired of playing on the team
It seems I don't get time out anymore
What a change if we set the pace face to face
No one even trying to score
Oh oh I can feel the magic of your touch
And when you move in close a little bit means so much
Ooh yeah, you've got to understand baby
Time out is what I'm here for

One on one I wanna play that game tonight
One on one I know I wanna play that
One on one I wanna play that game tonight
One on one so slow

You can't tell me you don't miss me girl
I think I might know you too well
Wonder what you'd say if you knew that I was coming tonight
Want to? I want you can't you tell

One on one I wanna play that game tonight
One on one I know I wanna play that
One on one I wanna play that game tonight
One on one so slow
That's all you need to know now

'Cause if it's really right there's nothing else
One on one I want to play that game tonight...

yep, surely one of the best songs from the H2O album

man in the early 80ees they were by far the biggest Top40 act around (...enter left: Thriller)
too bad these days they have to keep on struggling for a comeback disbelief

maybe they manage to put up some Musicology stunt? lol

"I distrust those people who know so well what God wants them to do, because I notice it always coincides with their own desires. " Susan B. Anthony

Their most recent CD 'Do It For Love' could be seen as a slight comeback for them.A few of it's singles actually did o.k. on the Adult Contemporary charts. It's a great CD,btw.

This summer, they'll be on the road with Michael McDonald and The Average White Band. And several of their classic albums have just been remastered.

yeah one of the best songs D & J ever did. I was singing it a lot lately and
managed to do it pretty well...which is saying a lot because darryl really does some nice vocal CHANGES near the tail end of the song...for you ladies...my fave part is darryl singing.."i want noone else...i'me tired pf playing...
LORD...blue eyed soul at its best...sho' nuff!!!!

I wouldn't mind seeing them live. I think they still got it. Now I hear their latest song..."Taxi Driver" I think is one of them on a smooth jazz station. It wasn't a bad song. I think they'll always get their props.
orgnote time Charles!

THat's the thing-I live in the city with no car and have NO CLUE how to get to JOnes beach (it's about 30 minutes from the city) without a car! Albany is about 2 hours from me. Maybe I should post this in GENERAL - lol and see what people suggest.

To the point, I think "One on One" is an R&B ballad. Maybe second only to "Sara Smile" as H&O's best ballad.

And I'll be right there with purplegypsy. That tour ain't no joke. And BELIEVE me, Michael McDonald live is worth E-VER-Y penny!!!

Props will be withheld until the showing and proving has commenced. -- Aaron McGruder
