what ever happened to EXPOSE?

you know...POINT OF NO RETURN, LET ME BE THE ONE, WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW, I"LL NEVER GET OVER YOU GETTINGOVER ME...

they were one of my fave 80s/early 90s "girl groups."

and the weirdest thing is is that I came acroos some Web site that said there were 3 completely different girls in Expose until the 1986 breakthrough album EXPOSURE. Anyone know if this is true? I know one of the singers left in the early 90s b/c she lost her voice, but I never heard the previous "fact."

One of my favorite Expose songs..."December."

Funny you should ask this question, I was just listening to an Expose track today "Come Go With Me". Not sure what happened to them, but I used to enjoy their music. smile
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Gioia Bruno, the best singer in the group (she basically "made" them, although all the girls were competent vocalists) had to quit in 1992 due to health reasons, and that's also the time they stopped having hits. They replaced her with Kelly Moneymaker who just didn't have the spark IMHO.

They're early dance songs were amazing. They did pretty good with ballads. I have their "Greatest Hits" and while all their really big hit songs were good, the rest were kind of boring. BUt when they had it, they had it!

I think I found some good info. The one who lost her voice (Gioia Bruno) apprently is working again. She had a website but apprently no more. Here is an info page on the band and other artists. Purple probably got info from this page as well.

Here is info from the site. I should have read on!

Exposé is OFFICIALLY BACK as of summer 2003, with Jeanette, Ann, & Kelly! Gioia will also be performing with them at select shows. According to Jeanette, Gioia & Kelly will switch on stage when Gioia comes to perform her parts.
Even more exciting, the girls have won the legal rights to the name "Exposé", which the girls really deserve! smile
(Which was part of a problem back then).
Now, the girls will be performing their classics, & are considering working on some new songs as well. Let's see what happens!

No real details but I guess it was summer last year anyway.

Why? They can actually sing. I'd rather hear them than most of the trollop that's made today rolleyes.

Gawd, is that a blast from the past!

I used to live in the same apartment building as their manager! It was a small building on Euclid Ave. in Maimi Beach, very close knit and "Melrose Place" style...I remember the manager had EXPOSE record award plaques all over their walls and did WAAAY too much coke, but overall was a great person once you got past that twitchy nose thing square...I got a chance to hear so me good outakes from them, and actually, they really weren't that bad...

Question: How did Gioia Bruno lose her voice? It's a shame because that girl could really sing!

I thought Jeanette had a great voice--it actually got a lot better over the years-if you compare her singing on "Come Go With Me" to "When I Looked at Him."

Does anyone have anything by the "EXPOSE" pre-GIOIA, JENEATTE, ANNE days? Apparently there's a version of "POINT OF NO RETURN" by the 1st version of EXPOSE that was recorded in 1984 or something?

yeah i heard there was a different line up when they first came out with "point of no return" and I heard it included freestyle singer Sandee who recorded that song "Notice me".
I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back.
I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there.
I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish.
And I am

lol Man,I loved Expose back in the day! Remember their jam "Let Me Be The One"? It seems that folks lost interest after the 1987 debut album, but I continued listening to them through out the early 90s.The album 'What You Don't Know' is excellent.

You can find that original (6-minute) version of PONR on Expose's Greatest Dance Mixes, a compilation of their 12'' classics. In all honesty, Sandee's vocals were not all that good, especially compared to the final product.
