Appetite for Destruction or Nevermind: Which is the better Album? After the Hype has died down now for both groups, which debut was the best in your opinion? Guns N Roses' Appetite or Nirvana's Nevermind? Which album was more consistent with the least filler?

Appetite For Destruction, by far...it's one of my all-time favorite CD's.
MJ was a brilliant singer/dancer...best of all time, however, that's all he was. Let's not compare him to Prince, best musician of all time, but rather, compare him to someone like Sammy Davis Jr (who I don't hear anyone calling a musical genius).

None are better than the other, both are classics and are strong right through.

A X L was a rock god. Cobain was a rock junkie...appetite for destruction was amazing...more timeless than Nevermind. Let the rain come down...17 days....

Personally, I prefer Nevermind, but can I say neither and go with Ten by Pearl Jam?

Apples and oranges. Axl is an asshole and Kurt was a tortured soul.

Kurt is full of himself anyways, he claims that all of Guns N Roses' songs are crap and that they have no talent. Bullsh*t, Appetitie for Destruction rocks the casbah. Long after getting bored of the songs on Nevermind, I'm still listening to AFD.

I played both albums over and over when I got them. I never saw a need to ask which is better. They are different and I really can't choose. Both Kurt and Axl are/were self-destructive, just in different ways. Sure, GNR was able to progress and be versatile. Nirvana would have done the same. Right before Kurt died he said he want to progress past grunge.

I don't think Axl was racist, but he was definitely a homophobe. He said in interviews that he just didn't understand homosexuality. That's his business. I enjoyed the music and his voice. But now I'm just bored with his antics. I don't know what exactly happened between them. The supposed fight at the mtv awards, etc. I didn't realize he wore a Nirvana hat in the Dont Cry video. Maybe they had a love-hate relationship. I think it's silly to put them against each other. That's their business. No it's only after Kurt dissed Axl in various interviews and called all their music crap, then snubbed Axl's offer to tour with them, that Axl got pissed. Axl was a friend of Elton John btw, he even played with him at Wembley Stadium I believe. He was also friends with Freddy Mercury another homosexual. I still can't explain his reasoning for that "one in a million" song. But Kurt is clearly full of himself. Nevermind was far from a perfect record, there is some awful crap on that record. GN'R were overlooked because Grunge was newer than street style hard rock. But that aside, Axl is a much better leadman than Kurt

Back in the day I was the hugest GnR fan. I played Appetite non stop for 2 years straight and even thought Use Your Illusion I and II were almost as good.

Ouch.. I love Guns n' roses, but i also dig Nirvana.. actually i used to listen to more gnr more than Nirvana, but not its the other way around.. I dont know about the albums, i love both of them, and i think nevermind is a good one.. but i guess i'd have to go with appe tite for destruction.. or?

Hard to compare because these are two excellent albums from two very complex bands. I love them both, but Gunners win hands down.... Left Of The Middle....

No, that would be Radiohead. Do not hurry yourself in your spirit to become offended, for the taking of offense is what rests in the bosom of the stupid ones. (Ecclesiastes 7:9)

Personally, I think these are two very good albums by very talented bands. I'm not sure why they are beign compared, since the two really don't have much in common (maybe its just because of the fued between them?).
