Klymaxx-A band almost Reunited!

This series is actually a lot better than i thought it was gonna be...so far, Berlin, Romeo Void, A Flock of Seagulls and now Klymaxx...
I must say the ladies haven't aged too gracefully..the sexy vixens looked more like a Richard Simmons commercial (note to keyboardist: honey, when you sre that plump, don't wear suede lion king form fitting tops)..
But seriously, i had no idea they split up so badly (4 against 1)...but they sounded decent enuff.

Next up--The Revolution-Band Reunited!! ( oh they did that already)

Yep, I saw it. They couldn't seem to bury the hatchet with their original guitarist. That was foul of her though, to go behind the rest of the bands backs and form a new version of Klymaxx. But the rest of the band got back together and did their thing. And they sounded as awesome as they did 18 years ago. It was cool.

Oh, and as far as The Revolution getting back together, it happened last year, and it was fun. But it was missing something...something very important.

The guitarist was not welcome into the group after that whole thing she pulled with taking the name and stuff. The rest of the band soldiered on as the "real" Klymaxx. It was awesome, and they still sounded great.

Glad y'all started this topic cuz I was about to!

I LOVED me some Klymaxx back in the day!!!

To the person who asked about the other keyboardist, that's Robin Gridder and yeah, it's weird theydidn't mention her.

Recently I learned that the lineup we think of us Klymaxx (Bernadette, Fenderella, Lungs, Cooley, Robin, and Lynn) were not the original original. Bernadette did found the group but there were even more members (I found a website on them that their whole history) with a few changes here and there before they ended up as the sextet we know.

It's this 6-member group that got the big record deal with Solar/MCA and socred with Meeting In The Ladies Room, but I thikn they had some smaller releases prior.

Anyway, I also remember that after their 2nd Solar album (self titled with "Sexxy") Bernadette left the band cuz they performed on The Tonight Show with Joan Rivers (twice) and they had a different drummer.

So I guess they glossed over some of that, but the key issue is that Cheryl Cooley is trying to tour NOW with the name Klymaxx and trying to get the name for herself.

It's sad that they didnt' have a happy reunion in the end.

I wish they would've shown more performance footage!

To me the best part of the show was hearing Bernadette talk!!! She actually talks like she does on the albums with all the same little expressions.

I was listening to then the other dayin preparation for the show and was like "who the hell is "Kitty"" she's always talking to. And it seems she calls all the girls "Kiddies"... and she says "Fabulous" a lot, and "I"m very unhappy about that" smile.

I love them.

THIS SERIES ROCKS!!! I had never listened to Klymaxx when they were popular, but they are so cool now I want to buy some of their music, LOL. Especially Bernadette.

It's not gonna go as smooth as possible with every band they try and reunite. These bands broke up (or stayed broken up) for a reason, or reasons in some cases. And sometimes for certain members there isn't enough water under that bridge to reunite either at this point, or at all.

When I was a teen and heard it the first few times, I thought I was the only one who thought "Menopause" was the name of the song, instead of "The Men All Pause"...before the show I had never heard anybody bring that up. biggrin

Just for some info for the story as it relates. Cheryl Cooley is a friend of mine and when she wanted to go back on tour as Klymaxx and be a working musician, she DID call each member and ask if they were down to tour and record again. Most said no and that they were happy doing what they were doing in their respective lives. Others never returned the call. So, Cheryl was not going behind their backs and let them know of her intentions

My take is that one person wanted to be a working musician (Cheryl) and that the rest of the band just wanted to do their own non-Klymaxx things.

Not taking sides here and just wish there can be some happiness for all.

Sheryl was shady as hell for taking the name and forming a new line-up of Klymaxx and she obviously wasn't sorry because she's still doing it. hmph!

It seems to me that she should need to get the permission of the other band members to tour as 'Klymaxx' and make money performing songs that in some cases she didn't write.

The fact that the other ladies declined to participate in a tour or record again doesn't, in my opinion, allow her to do what she's been doing.

Bernadette is a stuck up snob has-been!!!

Did you all see how she walks into the room, like a pimp and says Hello Kitties!!!

LMAO
Like she's Pattie Labelle or somebody!!!
Girl- Bernadette...relax the ego, no need for it 20 years later after the band has been long forgotten.

and Cheryl should be ashame to even act like she's completely right about stealing that name from the girls, if it happened that way??? (really)

Klymaxx rocked out in the end...and I would like to see them live for myself and hear the new songs...but the ego has to go!

and the only reason why cheryl wasn't apart of the reunion, was only because of Bernadette, because the other wouldnt have mind...they just decided to follow the leader with the beer gut!!!
LMAO

Plus Cheryl with that limp walk should be ashame to even act like she's completely right about stealing that name from the girls.

I'm just wondering how well you remember Klymaxx because ego was very much a part of Bernadette Cooper's persona. And don't think for a second that she wasn't aware of that camera on her. You can even note a distinct difference in her behavior when she was initially caught off guard, casually dressed and made up and afterwards when she was prepping for the show.

It's no different than Morris Day who, by the standards you list above, is the same "stuck up snob has-been". But would you have Morris any other way?

Huhh? How is that stuck or up? Patti Labelle (who's the most down to earth person anyway)??

She always called them Kitties... I think that's just her little name for her friends/bandmates.

And like someone said, her stage persona has always been like that,... just like Morris. Plus she founded the band and as Lynn Malsby said... "It's her baby"

It was interesting how different she looked onstage with "fierce hair" and make up.

"She knew she loooked good. Slap me on the one!" smile

but even when they didnt agree on her using the name she still went about doing it. Songs that other people wrote some prolly including bandmates.

on the Bernadette thing, she is not a snob. My friend told me that she is a tom boy and that she does um...walk the other direction (like me), but that is cool, that is the homegirl. I wish i can find the album.. sad ANy1 have it? Lend me a copy? Help A BRUTHA OUT! sad

Tell your friend she is a scum bag! She said on the show she was wrong and wasn't going to use the name.. and then after a few days she went back to being a greedy bitch.

who would want to anyways see some fat bitch who plays guitar?? I cant think of 1 solo that is that amazing? also who would want to see her group.. it look like she got the fake members by asking fat old broads standing in line at Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles.

She knew that cheating her ex-bandmates out of the name was the only way she would be a working musican! WHO would get her to play on your album in any recording studio.

anyone can tell she lied about calling the other members, because as soon as she said it.. first off she barely could say it out loud because she knew it was a lie (anyone can see that).. she then said it was hear say.. I kinda ask 1 of the girls and she got in touch with one of the others and she told me 3rd hand that you were not going to use it.

please.. she reminds me of 90% of everyone in music always looking to screw anyone in arms length from her.

It is going to be sooo funny when she finally goes to court on this...and they play that VH1 clip of hear saying she was wrong.

what possible can be her excuse AFTER the VH1 Special???

I haven't seen this yet but I hope they sound better now live than they did back in the day. I saw them open for Midnight Star around 85-86 and they sounded awful. Still one of the worse live shows I have seen.

Wow,I didn't realize that there was so drama surrounding this band! I'm shocked at some of the things I have just read.

But I still enjoy Klymaxx's music, particularly the two albums 'Meeting In The Ladies' Room' (1984) and the 1986 follow-up album. My favorite song by them is "I'd Still Say Yes".

damn alot of people must be watching these shows... i looked in 3 stores for Klymaxx today and nobody had any left. They probably had only 1 or 2 to begin with, but still. I expected to find the Millennium Collection. Guess i'll have to order it.

I saw this the other day and I agree with what's already been said. The group still kicked after not having even been in the same room together for 15-18 years! :omg:Cooley is going to h-e-double-hockey-sticks!

This show should bring back Another Bad Creation, Ready for The World, The Jacksons ( lol ), Culture Club, N.W.A. (which ain't gonna happen cuz Ren's a devout Muslim),New Kids on the Block, En Vogue horny , Fugees, Shalamar, The Deele, Jodeci (if DeVante can get himself together), and New Edition without Johnny Gill but with Bobby Brown lol falloff Yeah,right...

Listening to Klymaxx's Greatest Hits CD right now... music I was at home feelin' sleazy, so I went down to the speak easy. As soon as my feet hit the door I had all attention form the dance floor... headbang
I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!
