Stronger Than Pride vs. Promise

I'm having a time deciding which album to purchase out of the two. I'm going to purchase both in due time, but which would you recommend getting first? I love Diamond Life and I really dig early Sade. Any suggestions?

Stronger Than Pride nod But if you can, get both! Not like you can go wrong with anything by Sade. wink

Get them both...you can't lose with either one. Both of them have nice jams not featured on their Best Of album.

TRON

Stronger Than Pride is on par with her Love Deluxe and Lover's Rock. Promise is good, but kinda cold and distant in comparison. They're worlds apart.

i love sade. i have every album. they are all classics. if you already have best of sade, than i would go with promise over stronger than pride. it is a good continuation of diamond life and previews what is to come with stronger than pride. plus, you're not the man, tar baby, and maureen are such great songs. make sure to get both though.

My favorite of the two is definitely "Stronger Than Pride."

Stronger Than Pride has a more profound effect on me than Promise altho I love alot of songs on that release. You can't go wrong to start with STP. It's practically flawless.
"Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!

Promise is the one for me. Both are great though. Like someone said Promise is a little colder but it resonated more with me for whatever reason.

Anxiety

I have to take the popular vote and say "Stronger Than Pride" - "Haunt Me" and "Turn My Back On You" are probably my two favorite Sade songs ever.

I have all of Sade's albums (even the Sweetback project), but Stronger Than Pride may be my favorite Sade album. Definitely get it first.

Well, Prince fans usually understand the value in really listening to albums that aren't necessarily cash cows. We just like good music!
