The first potential skipper for me is Bewise. lol There's always a couple on Bootsy's new albums. lol But with 16 songs, there's more than enough great material to funkify. wink Wow, they threw in one of my favorite Sly Stone songs, too! eek

Man, I gotta say I sure miss George Clinton's hot sweaty small club marathons he's been doing for the last few years... The good ole days... smile

So, my opinion, after first listen, is that this album is more cohesive and focused as a whole and has less elements of what people don't like in Bootsy's funk. Plenty of infectious dance songs and slower songs with social commentary. The only two songs, on first listen, that I would exclude would be Bewise and Soul Not 4 Sale. The over-all flow on this album is better IMO than on World Wide Funk (which has some great songs). Most of the rap here works in tandem with all the other elements (why is Bewise on here?! razz lol). And I would end the album with a funky dance number just to counteract the serious slower songs at the end. My opinion only, of course, on first listen. biggrin Nonetheless, this will be an album I'll be jamming to...until Covid 19 is dead and in it's grave. cool

Man I hope y'all did not miss the Bootsy Birthday Album Release Party this past Friday. It was essential viewing. He did videos for several tracks on the album. The mixes seemed to differ. Either they were playing some of it live, or did a helluva lip synch. Man, I don't know how they did it. If u listen to these same tracks on the disc, the guitars and Bootsy's voice is much lower in the mix than on his release party thingy. Very top notch presentation they should make it available for purchase.

I agree! World Wide Funk is a good album, but I think there were too many hip-hop cameos. On this new album, the hip-hop elements are kept to a minimum. There's a bigger focus on the hardcore, addictive funk that Bootsy is a master of.

Happy Birthday to Bootsy!

Just watched a clip where he was talking about meeting Prince in 1978 and told a story about Prince trying to come on stage and his bodyguard threw Prince in the audience because Prince had a tape recorder and was taping the concert! lol

Indeed.I'm kinda surprised that the album isn't getting more love from the old school funk lovers on this site. It's truly his strongest album in years.

Yeah I'm really getting into it now. It's supremely fonkay, goes down smoove, good, chunky and crisp production. But not over-produced this time with alot of studio wizardry. I got to give it to Casper, at 69 he is still bringing the goods hard.

All the videos are pretty enjoyable too.
