I liked "Riddle." But the rest is absolutely foreign to me. After Dawn left, I sorta just gave up on them. The other stuff I heard never seemed as interesting. Not sure if it was a change in producers, songwriters, or whatever. There's always a troubled soul in every band, and when they leave it just sorta fucks up the whole vibe that people have gotten used to. From pop to rock, it happens, and it messes everything up.

I'd say one except in the pop field was Destiny's Child. When it got down to a trio, it worked pretty well.

Kevin left Backstreet Boys

Justin left Nsync

Vince and/or Tommy left Motley Crue

Ace and Peter left KISS (although they're just a lipsync band these days)

Dawn left En Vogue

Michael left The Jacksons

Kina left Brownstone

Steve Perry left Journey

Red Hot Chili Peppers can't keep a guitarist to save their life

Dave, Sammy, Gary, and Michael all left Van Halen (although Ed & Alex are fucking nightmares says the streets)

Jason left Metallica

Roger left Pink Floyd

...the list goes on and many (not all) of those bands were affected.

The few bands that have stayed together almost seem like a sore thumb. Bon Jovi, Aerosmith (mostly, I believe), Motley Crue (did get back together), Def Leppard (lost Steve to drugs & alcohol),

"eye don’t really care so much what people say about me because it is a reflection of who they r."

CoolMF

Funny this comes up as a thread as I used to own this joint and played it a few times.

*

Recently, my daughter and I had another "quarantine movie night" and watched the original Carmen Jones (which was dope). Anyway, one of the opening songs ("Dat's Love") sounded very familiar and, when I looked it up, found that it was sampled/interpolated on one of the Masterpiece Theater songs ("Those Dogs").

*

Anyway, that really happened this week and then I see this thread so I had to comment. BTW, my teen daughter didn't like the movie, music, or dialogue at first and by the end of the movie was really caught up into it.

I thought this was a solid album. I wasn't crazy about Riddle. I thought it was a little

lazy and pretty much a mash up of earlier hits like Hold On, You Don't Have To Worry, and My Lovin(You're Never Gonna Get). I thought No, No, No, Latin Soul, and Work It Out were standout

choices and more solid single choices than the lazy Riddle.

I thought Riddle was awesome though it may have blended in too much with the current sound rather than being authentic en vogue

Maxine looks not at all like herself on the cover. I bet many looked at the cover and thought there was a new member and didn't bother.

Their last album before it ev3 also wasn’t a very high seller so they were already losing popularity unfortunately. But this album is awesome

"No No No (Can't Come Back)" is the cut.

It just doesn't look like Maxine to me on the cover and it has nothing to do with the hairstyle. Her eyes look strange. Her face looks elongated; maybe it's the shadowing. Obviously there's a lot of airbrushing and manipulation of the photograph. It almost looks like an Ernie Barnes painting.

I thought the exact same thing! That woman's face does not look like Maxine Jones!

I want to say yes I do like a good album from time to time yet in attempting to live my most authentic life I have lagged behind a lot lately. Maybe one day I will catch up.
