Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus ~ Old Town Road (Official Movie)

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I think they should have found Bubba Sparxxx and put him in the video/song. Maybe Sir Mix-A-Lot too since he had Square Dance Rap in the mid-1980s

Loved this. Absolutely loved it and not even a big fan of the song (but my kids, and all of their friends, love this song).

Kinda like Back To The Future III, and the Hump De Bump video by the Chili Peppers. The scene with the bingo is like the part of Jerk Out when The Time goes into the country bar. biggrin

Lil Nas X Gifts Billy Ray Cyrus A Maserati

SPORTS CAR!

I LOVE Lil Nas X! That was VERY humble of him to gift that car. Although Billy Ray has old school millions dated back before he was born. But it was a kind gesture. I see a sitcom coming for them, which should include Lil Nas new girlfriend Billy Ray's daughter.

As of right now, Old Town Road has been #1 for 7 weeks on the Hot 100 and the video has 54,002,287 views after 6 days of being posted on Youtube. That's not including the previous audio only videos.

Lil Nas is dating Billy Ray's youngest daughter, Noah Cyrus.

This morning on Instagram, I saw DJ Chuck Chillout (pioneering disc jockey at NYC's Kiss FM in the 1980s) compare "Old Town Road" to RAPPIN' DUKE! lol

I have Duke's album. Charlie Daniels was country rapping in the 1970s and so was C.C. McCall on Convoy. There's a sub-genre called hick hop that was doing this before Nas X. Cowboy Troy is probably the most known. Other than Cowboy Troy and a few others, most hick hop rappers are white. There tends to be Confederate flag imagery in some of the videos, so likely why hick hop has not gotten much promotion on the radio & media.

Don't know. This might be a case of the song wind up being bigger than the artist performing it like The Twist, Gangnam Style, I'm Too Sexy, Bust A Move, It Takes Two, Bad To The Bone, My Toot Toot, Cha Cha Slide, Stanky Legg, Who Let The Dogs Out, Macarena, etc. They're all still popular party songs.

Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” Spends 10th Straight Week at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100
Marisa Mendez June 10, 2019 XXL

Lil Nas X has just reached a new big-time milestone with "Old Town Road"

According to a report Billboard published Monday (June 10), the Georgia rapper's breakout tune has topped the Billboard Hot 100 for the tenth week in a row. This puts the newcomer at the longest No. 1 reign since Drake's "In My Feelings" dominated for ten weeks in 2018.

On top of that, "Old Town Road" leads the Streaming Songs chart for its tenth week and its also just landed on top of Digital Song Sales chart for its sixth week. On the Radio Songs chart, he sits at No. 2. The song has been out for months now, but with all of its momentum, it's undoubtedly still a contender for Song of the Summer for 2019, as it's clearly not losing steam any time soon.

In recent Lil Nas X news, the mother of a young man who had never before spoken due to his autism recently found him miraculously singing the words to "Old Town Road." While sharing the video she captured on Twitter, the woman explained how her son hasn't said a full sentence since birth, and thanks to Lil Nas X's chart-topping song, that all changed.

The video caught the attention of the rapper, who shared the video to his timeline with the caption, "What a king."

Cowboy Troy's songs have more of an actual country music sound than Old Town Road does. A few years ago, there was a bluegrass remake by Dana & Lauren of California Love (Dr. Dre, Roger Troutman, Tupac).
