Where does Freddie Mercury of Queen rank as all time performers

The way this man performed like no other, he had the audience in the palm of his hand, by singing and then getting the crowd to repeat what he sang.

He was one of the most physical performers of all time with a 5 octave voice range.

He was awarded the greatest front man on you tube and by rolling stone magazine.

He could sing harmonies like some body to love, Bohemian Rhapsody, killer queen or heavy rock like we will rock you, hammer to fall, I want to ride my bicycle or funk like another one bites the dust or altenative like show must go on. or dance like radio gaga.

He has the alltime best selling album in the UK and most streamed song of the twenty century in all countries.

Where do you rate him?

By teh way he was a big Prince fan and would watch Purple rain many times a day with his friends.

Love Freddie, he had such an awesome strong voice, I rate him in my top 5. He died way too young.

Agreed! Freddie is in my top 5 performers as well. I saw Queen back in 1978!! I was only 15 and I remember staring at Freddie in his very tight, very thin white pants. razz

Freddie was great studio singer but not so good live.

After he found himself immersed in a gay night club scene

(1978-1985) Freddie was more interested in party hard than

working hard and taking care of himself

As a result Freddies voice was shot for a lot of Queen performances.

Depending on a rehearsals Queen would decide wheater

Roger or Freddie is going to sing high parts.

live most of the times it was Roger doing the high notes

because Freddie couldnt .

dont believe me? chack whole japan 1979 tour on utub.his voice was shot .

regarding his stage performances he is way overrated.yes he did know how to make audience

react to his stuff but his movements onstage were a b version of Robert Plant.

and please dont tell me about live aid.

live aid performance is nothing compared to how amazing Queen were in the 70s live

1979 performance of Sheer Heart Attack (check utub video where Freddie destroys speakers )

eats

live aid 4 breakfast

LIVE AID showcased how he could CAPTURE and motivate an audience. He certainly was inspiring and yes his few 80's years had him seeking a different timbre (st last it's been expressed that way in interviews/books from collaborators) via smoking.

Thing is he was a puffer not a heavy inhaler and was plagued by vocal nodules after the 70's. Possibly the start of health issues.

Yeah they were more dynamic in the 70's. At peak "powers" in 79-81, then Munich, partying and drugs.

Amazing stuff he did though. He was one of the first to prove you could command a stadium
