Anyone watch Motown 60?

I had forgotten all about it and work thirds so would have missed it anyway. But from what little I've seen of it, Motown 25 it ain't.

Anybody actually tune in?

A lot of the songs performed were from the 1960s, some 1970s, and not much past that. I think the most recent song performed was Just To See Her by Smokey Robinson that he sang in a medley. I wonder why Smokey never does Quiet Storm in any of these specials. It started a entire radio program that runs to this day. Maybe it wasn't a pop hit, but still. Most of the program was medleys. Jermaine Jackson's Let's Get Serious was played in the background of one of the skits Cedric The Entertainer did.

Well who else from their era is still around? The Temptations are Otis and some other dudes, none of them from their most known era & songs. When most people think Motown, it's generally the 1960s, maybe up to the early 1970s. The Funk Brothers era. It's probably not The Dazz Band, Hi Energy, Rockwell, or Boyz To Men. lol It would be interesting to me if they said something the rock & country labels Motown had in the 1970s. Meatloaf was in a group that on the Rare Earth label.

Diana Ross - She was on the show at the end. Mary Wilson had a filmed part where she was talking but was not actually on the show.

Gladys Knight - I think when this was filmed, she was doing that TV show where she was doing cosplay as a bumblebee or something. T-Pain won.

Jackson 5 - They were touring overseas. They probably weren't invited anyway. Ne-Yo sang I'll Be There. Jennifer Lopez did Dancing Machine & ABC. Let's Get Serious was played in the background of one of the skits by Cedric The Entertainer.

Otis Williams and the Temps - Smokey & Jennifer Lopez. I think I saw Otis sitting in the audience.

Isley Bros (Ron Isley) - I don't think The Isleys has ever done a Motown special. They're more known for their T-Neck era and Shout/Twist And Shout era, neither was on Motown

DeBarge (El DeBarge) - Ne-Yo again (I Like It)

Lionel Richie - even more Ne-Yo (All Night Long)

I'm watching Jimmy Fallon right now and The Roots just performed Goin' Back To Indiana by The Jackson 5 as the intro music for Nathan Lane. I don't know what the connection is, but they always do songs that relate in some way to the guest.

lol Well, truth be told, the debut albums from the Good Girls and Georgio were some of the best to come out of Motown during that partiuclar period of time.

Past and present Motown artists who performed were Smokey, Stevie, Diana, Themla, and Ne-Yo. Did I leave anyone out?

Good one. They were actually pretty good and I actually liked them better than the cluster

of some of the male/boy R&B groups than came out in the 90's like Silk, Intro, H-Town, Shai, etc.

It was another Grammy Salute To... special with ALL the familiar faces who do Grammy gigs (which includes Stevie Wonder anyway...) Tori Kelly! John Legend! Meghan Trainor! Chloe x Halle!

Still, Stevie Wonder turned out a very special performance of "I Never Dreamed You'd Leave In Summer" for all the Motown artists passed away.

I just watched it on YouTube.

.

.

Either JLo took intensive singing lessons since her last albums.... or they got someone else to re-cord her vocals for the show!

.

.

The voice sounded nothing like the way she used to "sing" on her own songs.
