I love the genre but for some reason I had never heard this song before. It sounds a bit like Can You Feel The Beat by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam....in a good way. Thanks for this thread. I wish I could go to some of those concerts. It´s strange to see Nu Shooz on the posters. I never really considered them as part of this genre. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Unfortunately,I missed that one. That lineup is amazing! It sold out.

You never heard of Trinere? Perhaps you know of "They're Playing Our Song",one of her other big hits.

Typically,at these shows, they always have at least one or two acts that weren't really considered freestyle but were poluar around the same time that freestyle was (mid-to-late 80s).For example,The Jets are appearing at some of these shows and their music is R&B/dance pop,not freestyle.I saw NuShooz a few years ago at one of these shows and they were great, btw.

For me,the cool thing about these shows is that,it takes me back to my high school years Freestyle was so popular during that time. These shows are a fun way to reminisce and revisit that era.

Oh yeah, I know that one. I remember it from the days when I used to sport black leather jackets, gold chains and tons of gel in my curly hair. This song would get me on the dancefloor real fast.
. Another great song from that era is this one...I´m sure you know it:
I really loved this song back in the day and would sometimes listen to it for hours. But back then I never heard about any other song from her. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I only listened to Stevie B. because the girls liked him so much that I couldn´t avoid him. This song had that hilarious video where he drives around in his drop top car with the fake leopard skin on the seats. Dude had a really cool curly mullet with lots of gel. I kinda emulated that look and it´s still in my old drivers´ license. The music changed when the mullets and the mighty Jheri curl disappeared. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I remember that song.I also remember her 1981 hit "Over Like A Fat Rat".Yes,that's a bizarre title but the song is great my favorite jam by her

Stevie B. is considered the King of Freestyle. There were other male freestyle artists, but Stevie seemed to have the most hits and longevity."Spring Love" never gets old.Another favorite is "Party Your Body",his first hit.And yeah,he had that "curly mullet with lots of gel" thing going on back then

I know them ALL....in fact, I still remember the lyrics to each and every song. Stevie B. was extremely popular among my people, the Turkish folks in Germany. I have no idea why but that´s the way it was. Must´ve been the hair. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"
