TV One's UNSUNG Returns on March 3

TV One's longest-running and award-winning documentary series UNSUNG continues its stellar run with eight new episodes debuting on Sunday, March 3 at 9 p.m. ET/8C.

UNSUNG celebrates the lives of trailblazing musicians whose full stories and journey have yet to be explored. This season promises memorable stories of influential artists including R&B heartthrob Lloyd, 90s songstress Adina Howard, 80s family band The Jets, singer/songwriter Shirley Murdock, house music legend Crystal Waters, crooner Glenn Jones, vocalist Kenny Lattimore and contemporary gospel musician Tasha Cobbs-Leonard. Through first-hand accounts, interviews with family and friends, and archival footage, each episode weaves a tale of the highs and lows of a life in the limelight.

UNSUNG is narrated by actor Gary Anthony Williams and is Executive Produced by Arthur Smith and Frank Sinton of A. Smith & Co. Productions. Mark Rowland is Executive Producer. For TV One, Jason Ryan is Executive Producer in Charge of Production, Donyell McCullough is Senior Director of Talent & Casting and Robyn Greene Arrington is Vice President of Original Programming and Production.

The only ones I would be interested in are Shirley Murdockk The Jets and Glenn Jones. The others, not so much. I have no idea who Lloyd is.

Believe me you don't need to know. lol

I think he had a hit over 10 years ago called Get It Shawty. Outside of that

I don't know much else about him. I believe he was a protege of someone in the industry.

Can't recall who.

Lloyd is actually a newer artist who was “hot” for a brief moment. My niece was a huge fan several years ago smile It’s interesting that he gets an unsung episode so soon in his career.

Maybe they are running out of artists willing to agree to participate? Still lots of veteran acts who have not had a episode.

I still can’t believe that there hasn’t been a Ready For The World episode yet.

I was foolish enough to think, "Maybe next year" after the first season. I gave up shortly thereafter. But yes. Long overdue. Maybe they don't want one. idk. What's makes it so bad is that they are the definition of "Unsung" in the traditional sense of the word.

I wouldn't call someone who made their debut in 2000 a newer artist. He started out with a group called N-Toon. A boy band pre B2K.

Really interesting interview with O'Bryan posted on EURnews and Soultracks. He is definately a candidate for Unsung. I wonder if he's ever been approached about an episode?

one interesting thing about Shirley Murdock. After the release of her first album, there was an imposter going around pretending to be her.It was some dude who was dressing up just like her and playing gigs eek Even some other celebrities were fooled.Tina Turner ran into the guy at some event and said "Nice to meet you,Shirley.....I absoultely love your album!" eek lol I wonder if this will be discussed on the Unsung episode.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

Watched the epsiodes last night on Lloyd and Adina Howard. Not really a follower or fan of either, but I enjoyed their stories. Looking foward to next week's episode on The Jets.

I watched the Adina Howard episode and I have a question: why was her second album cancelled? They mention that the first single didn’t do very well, but they don’t really explain why the album was rejected.

Soul...I wouldn't be surprised if the second album cancellation had something to do with her beef with Sylvia Rhone. I've read interviews with artists that were on her label and NONE of them had any kind words to say about her.
