When has she ever cared what people think? ... that's part of the reason she's lasted so long, she does what she wants, public opinion be damned.

All the time.
Last proof is the speed at which she replied to a buzz she started herself
in a desperate attempt to have media talk about her. Pardon me, her ass.

The Basquiat and Haring days are long gone, please don't sell the notion she's an artist with an artist's agenda.
Most of what you consider Madonna's artistic statements come from her brother and his fine artistic directions.

Or Jean-Baptiste Mondino. Or Orbit, or Mirwais. She has flair, but you're sadly mistaken if you think that's going against the grain.
Quite the opposite. She has no more flair than people in advertising, who always mingled, since Warhol,
with the underground in order to steal an idea and edulcorate it, to mass-produce it and selling it by the truckload.
She's capitalism's little helper, she was quite audible and entertaining, had good taste but a rebel she never was.

Oh, I do too.
I'm a huge fan.

I guess I'm just pissed she doesn't age more gracefully than that.
And I don't mean the physical aspect, I couldn't care less.

She just seemed so much mature and adult around Ray of Light and Music,
for crying out loud, that was twenty years ago. This isn't fun, this is crying for attention.
I guess a some point they never can go back to normal, and that's sad.

She went from Power Fantastic to Schoolyard in a few years, oh wait hold on

No, I kid, I think she was only able to exist in a world where all the focus could be on one person. Nowadays everyone is niche and she doesn't really have a core sound to retreat to.

But she does have a core sound, dance and electronic music. It’s in all her albums to varying degrees. I understand some people think dance music isn’t mature enough or appropriate for an older woman but she does have a core sound.

Madonna just do you. You don't know who you be, yet?

Yup, but post "Music", it's like she retreated, like "uh, I'm getting too intellectual".
Which is a pity IMHO, by then she was really onto something, it was less pretentious than Björk, but refined enough
to be more deep than, say, sampling ABBA (although "Jump" was a kicking-ass single).
She could have searched for the next Mirwais, but nah.
I don't understand why she felt compelled to go after Spears & Co., to me it felt insecure,
which is the total opposite of Madge. Take "I'm Breathless": it sounds like a woman,
not like someone trying to be a teenager again. I don't deny the right, but when you want to translate it
artistically, you'd better have a purpose of some kind behind it, a little psycho-analysis, anything other than mere surface.

Yes I suppose so, but then she never really created a sound herself. I say this as a fan btw, i'm not knocking her but that's my theory on why her last few albums have been a bit aimless imho

Would make you miss the days when each frame of an Andy Allo clip got its own separate thread.

Are you suggesting that it's gonna go around some more?

I can only imagine b listers

PAULA ABDUL (unearthed Lakers club sex film OPPOSITES ATTRACT)
SADE (practising sadism and body mutilation)
Meanwhile BOBBY BROWN is just looking like a well adjusted individual who grew up
