RIP Pete Shelley of Buzzcocks

Since nobody else has posted it . . . Pete Shelley of the legendary punk band Buzzcocks died last week at the age of 63.

They were my favorite band. I found them in the late '80s, just as my Prince fandom was (temporarily) starting to waver. I recall reading a magazine article in which Pete praised "When You Were Mine," but I can't find proof. I always thought a version of that song done in Buzzcocks style would be great. I can hear it in my head.

I was fortunate enough to meet him on a few occasions, and I did attempt to tell him what his music meant to me. I probably came off like a gushing fan, but I'm glad I did it.

R.I.P. Pete Shelley
