Are the B-52s worth seeing these days?

They had some fun songs back in the '80s, was thinking about seeing a show. Has anyone seen them lately and are they worth seeing live? Never seen 'em before.

i went to a b-52s show about 10 years ago to see the pretenders open...admittedly, i'm not a big fan; but i stuck around thinking i'd probably have a good time. it was the first of only 2 shows i've ever walked out of...i watched maybe 2 songs. they seemed a novelty act. if nostalgia is your expectation, i imagine it might be a good time. otherwise, i thought they were terrible.

Wow, that's a shame... Guess I won't go then.

I saw them twice. The first time was in 1998 at Radio City Music Hall co-headlining with The Pretenders and The Pretenders was the better show.

The second time was in 2010 at a smaller standing room only venue and they were great. It was a real party. Cindy Wilson in particular sounded incredible on "Give Me Back My Man" with the applause for her afterward lasting several minutes. Original member Keith Strickland was still touring with them at the time too which is no longer the case I believe.

I don't know what they are like live now though, but I'm kind of a fan and own all their albums and seeing them without Keith wouldn't be the same for me.

Saw them in July when they opened for Culture Club and they put on a great show! I will be the first to say that I know a handful of songs but they made me a fan that night. I say go and enjoy!

I used to see em around town back in the Athens Ga days. Fred Schneider. To me they are better in a smaller venue. They can get to cooking if you catch em in an old theatre somewheres.

damn...i suppose it was that long ago that i saw them...

anyhow, as i said, i wasn't really a fan to begin with. your mileage may vary. that said, i think they probably might be better in a venue smaller than the one i saw them perform in.

I saw them in 1980. They were awesome.

I saw them again in 1998. Not quite as awesome because this time, I wasn't drunk. They played a bunch of songs I'd never heard before.
