George Clinton - PFunk Retirement Tour: FISHBONE added to So Cal Dates

Just a friendly reminder that George Clinton is out on his retirement tour...

It came to my attention last weekend that FISHBONE was added to their SoCal dates. This should be a once in a lifetime Nuttxperience... Most of the Classic Fishbone lineup sharing a date and probably the stage with the funkiest incarnation of the 20th century. I understand the interim band (featuring Dre Gipson, John Steward, Rocky GEorge and Flying Jay) have co starred in a few gigs in 2016, but this is new....and old.

What will occur with the reunion of Dr. Madd Vibe and Dr Funkenstein?

CONCERT: Tomorrow night 8/31/2018 at the NOVO DTLA... tickets still available (pretty cheap as well)

See u there.

By all means, go... and be funky. THe event is all ages

Yes! The mainly-original bandmates of Fishbone are now touring. Very nice to have them join George Clinton's retirement tour--that'll be a blast! I already saw Fishbone perform in my town this year along with a couple of good opening acts, fulfilling a wish of mine to see more of the original band on tour. All of the core members except Kendall Jones are coming to a town near you! They're very energetic and seem not to have lost a step. Stage diving is still a thing with at least 1 of the guys...! wink

There'll be some bonin' in the boneyard with the Atomic Dog in SoCal!

headbang pimp thumbs up!

I'm anxious to hear a review of how the gig went down. Only thing I've seen so far is a clip of Bushwick Bill join them onstage for Mind Playing Tricks.

The final show will be a hell of a moving moment for both crew and fans. I wonder if George will cry. I probably would if I could be there. I hope the show will be filmed and made available.

I’ll definitely shed some tears. I welled up at the Central Park Mothership Reconnection in 96 when the saucer descended. I’d love to see whoever is left from some of his 1970’s line ups show up onstage and send him off right, even though there’s been some bad blood between them.

It was a pretty great gig. I went for both Fishbone and GC + PF

Fishbone had a powerful gig but vox at front and center dipped about 4 songs into the set. They played through it and had an unusual set that put PARTY AT GROUND ZERO somewhere in the middle. Closed with Bonin and Freddie's dead

GC... It was pretty damn fantastic. I was bopping about so much that the setlist from FB I'd written on my hand has blurred and smeared with the sweat of jumping around and the little bit if skanking I could do before many ppl bitched about skankers etc.

Can't say I know Pfunk these days and I was surprised to see the band no longer had Michael Hampton, Kim Manning, Kendra Foster or several others.(who have not passed on)

The guest spot w buswick bill was cool. He returned to the stage late in the short w around the closers and atomic dog.I also distinctly remember Craig Robinson from HOT TUB TIME MACHINE/THIS IS THE END being onstage for the last few. He was dancing and grinding with a women that was either gc's new wife or Novena from Sly's loins.
Craig did not play despite being a great musician

It was wild and some of the set delved into trap and some odd rap metal elements.
I'm not certain what will happen afterward. Who will be the new band leader?.. Since a lot of the R&B and trap style and mumble style stuff went through me I didn't bother with a set list. I was lost in the experience a bit as well. I know these gigs are being recorded by the FAM bam as there was an omnipresent female recording everything.

George looked in greater form then I'd seen him ever. He was onstage about 80% of the time opposed to the 35% of the time he could sometimes do.I think he's taking it in and trying his damnedest to appreciate it and remember it.

I had planned on drawing a sketch of the dude and giving it to peeps to hand over just for thanks but it was a brutally fast and busy day.

I shook my ass off.... Looked a lot slimmer afterward until weekend beer kicked in restoring the water loss

Hey thanks for that field report. When I saw him a couple of times over the summer he was really taking it to the stage like he was just trying to leave it all on the stage.
