Bobby is my boy but this could have been better if he focused on his career and why the crowd went wild and the impact he was doing and also been a lil more truthful with the music part of his story. but i guess Whitney part sold more.

That's why part 1 was better IMO... These kind of mini-series need the right kind of balance.

Yuup the only scenes that referred to the Bobby album was when they were in the studio with Teddy and Alicia suggests that Humpin Around be the first single, and the Bobby cover photo shoot when Whitney tells Bobby she is pregnant.

Kurt Loder defends Bobby Brown against reports of drug use From MTV News, 1989

Kurt Loder shills for Bobby Brown and denounces "unattributed and unsubstantiated rumors" that Brown is having problems with drugs. Brown also denies that his girlfriend is pregnant -- a few months later, his daugher LaPrincia was born. Someone was tellin some porkies back then in 1989! hmmm

'Nothing else matters': Bobby Brown, Bell Biv DeVoe are all about having fun again https://www.stltoday.com/...3f875.html

There’s a scene at the end of “The Bobby Brown Story,” the BET miniseries that aired this month, in which Woody McClain, as veteran R&B singer Bobby Brown, is grilling with family and friends, and all is well.

It’s in stark contrast to the rest of the movie — sex, drugs, violence and the back-to-back deaths of ex-wife Whitney Houston, daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown and his own parents.

Brown basks in overdue happiness in the final scene. The singer says that’s exactly where he is now, at long last.

“That’s totally my life today,” he says. The barbecue scene was filmed in his own backyard. “It was beautiful to have the cast and crew there. I was really barbecuing for them. Woody would go on the grill for a minute to act like he was barbecuing. But I was doing all the cooking.”

Brown watched the finished miniseries for the first time along with the rest of the world. He says the experience was beautiful, and he’s proud of everyone involved.

“I was waiting to see how everything came together — the things they chose to show,” he says. “It was raw, gritty and the truth. You can’t deny the truth.”

(Brown’s sister, Leolah Brown Muhammad, has slammed the biopic; Brown hasn’t responded to her claims.)

Brown says he’s satisfied with the content of the miniseries, some of which was controversial, such as a secretive affair with Janet Jackson.“I still have a lot of things I want to get out there, but I’m going to wait for the feature,” says Brown, who confirms that a movie is coming. “Sometimes you gotta hold back what really goes on in the mind of Bobby Brown. But we gave the basics of where I came from and what I am now.”

Brown now can focus his attention on a new tour, which comes Sunday to Chaifetz Arena. He’s touring with fellow New Edition group mates Ronnie DeVoe, Ricky Bell and Michael Bivins under the group name RBRM (Bell Biv DeVoe with the addition of Brown).

Brown and BBD initially were going on their own tours, but they decided to join forces. Brown will contribute vocals to BBD’s songs and vice versa.

“We’ve always wanted to perform each other’s songs,” he says. “We’re all onstage together at all times. What better time than now? We’re having fun again. It’s not all about business this time. We’re just out there showing our appreciation for 40 years and having a blast. Nothing else matters. We first started doing this because we love performing, and we’re back to that.”

Missing from the tour are New Edition’s Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill (Tresvant and Gill own the New Edition trademark, which has caused dissension among the group).

Brown says he misses the dynamic of the group not together onstage but says “they have to do what they have to do, and we have to do what we have to to. You don’t always get all six. You get six sometimes, three sometimes. It’s all about the diversity of New Edition.“It’s about creating new and exciting things to do for the fans.”

Brown, along with the rest of the fans, would like a full New Edition reunion.

Brown recently dropped his first single in years with the new “Like Bobby,” heard at the end of the miniseries. His last album was 2012’s “The Masterpiece.”

The new single is produced by Teddy Riley and Babyface, who are responsible for Brown’s biggest hits back in the day.

“I’m really proud of this song,” he says. “I hope people will listen to it with an open ear and open mind. And trust, the video is gonna be out there.”

He says a new album is about a quarter of the way finished, and it’ll be everything fans expect. He refers to it as “Don’t Be Cruel 2,” name-checking his most popular album from 1988. He’s working with veteran and new producers.

Could a Bruno Mars collaboration be in the making for the album? Brown would be OK with that. Mars’ Grammy-winning “24K Magic” album found inspiration in acts such as Brown, New Edition and Babyface.

“I’m looking forward to working with him,” Brown says. “He’s a hell of a talent.

“His music is talking about the things we would talk about. It’s time to get back to where the sound came from. We’re grateful he has that ear and that strength to hold us own. I think he’s the one keeping real music alive.”

Interesting article about Bobbys claims that he made last year......another reason to make you go hmmm about how accurate The Bobby Brown Story was.

No, Bobby Brown did not teach Michael Jackson to moonwalk, insists family rep http://www.nydailynews.co...-1.3490300

It's Bobby Brown's prerogative to claim that he taught Michael Jackson how to moonwalk — but "outraged" sources including longtime Jackson family friend and publicist Steven Manning tells Confidential that his story is way off the wall.

Brown made headlines last week when he told "The Cipher Show" podcast that it was he who taught the King of Pop how to do one of the most famous dance steps of all time.

But people close to Jackson and Jeffrey Daniel of the band Shalamar tell us that it was Daniel who taught Jacko the "Back Step," which the "Beat It" singer mastered and rebranded as "The Moonwalk." In fact, Manning vividly recalls Jackson hosting Brown and his New Edition bandmates in his home and insists there was no moonwalking going on.

"I invited the New Edition to have dinner at the Jacksons' Havenhurst estate in December of 1983," Manning says. "It was right before Christmas. La Toya, Michael and Janet hosted the dinner."

The moonwalk leapt into mainstream pop culture after Jackson performed the move while singing "Billie Jean" on the May 1983 TV special "Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever." That would have been seven months before Brown came to the Jacksons' home, according to Manning. New Edition's debut album "Candy Girl" came out in March 1983.

"The timeline isn't even right," Manning notes.

Another insider familiar with that dinner party recalled there was no dancing or music at all and "chicken cutlets, corn dogs, salad, rice and beans" were served.

Bobby Brown preforms during Valentine's Music Festival at James L. Knight Center on February 10, 2017 in Miami, Florida. He recently claimed to have taught Michael Jackson to moonwalk.

That source tells us it was at that holiday dinner where Brown met Janet Jackson, whom he briefly dated after Jackson's marriage to James DeBarge ended.

"Joseph (Janet's dad) ended that because he thought Bobby was too wild for Janet," says that source. "As far as I know, Michael was never around Bobby much after that. It's awful that Bobby is trying to change history."

As Brown told the story to "The Cipher Show," he was indeed with his bandmates at

Jackson's home when he taught MJ to moonwalk.

"He saw me do the moonwalk," Brown told "The Cipher Show," claiming that Jackson asked him, "What is that?" prompting him to repeat the dance step for Jacko.

"(Jackson) just started doing it," said Brown, who claimed he learned the move from a guy in Alabama whom he didn't name in the interview.

I enjoyed this. When I watched the NE Story back in 2017 I didnt like it because I felt there was a lot missing. I realized that much of Bobby Brown was missing from the series after he was kicked out in Oakland. The Bobby Brown story was a great filler. It answered many questions I wondered about him while watching The New Edition Story. I was happy to see the King of Stage days & the Dont Be Cruel era. I know may fans wanted to see Whitney Houston, but personally I never really cared about their relationship. I only liked Bobby due to his NE affiliation. I have not read the thread yet, but I will say I dont think Whitney Houston was shown in a negative light. I remember the Being Bobby Brown show so there were things I was expecting to see from Whitney Houston here in this series. The Steven Sealy & Jimmy Flynt scenes were tough to watch, but it was what it was. I look forward to adding The New Edition Story and The Bobby Brown Story to the Blu Ray collection. In my opinion these films were Viacoms "Black Panther". They were movie events black people of many ages were looking forward to seeing and we turned up in droves proving our storys and our legends have value to us. Well done BET an Viacom.

Thanks thumbs up! well going by the responses on twitter, he is getting the last word now, by slutshaming her..... like I said earlier......if this so-called break-up was true, why on earth did he show up to all her events etc......even after marrying Whitney?? hmmm

Slut Shamming? No sis that is a reach. Bobby took the L in that scene. Here is what I saw. Janet wanted Bobby to be discreet, Bobby wanted more & attempted to buy her affections. Janet rewarded Bobby with sex. Bobby whined about being the side dude and Janet told him to chill. Janet was 23 in 89, Bob was 20. Two young people in their sexual primes. I didnt see Janet as a slut in the series and I dont view her as one now. She made the right choice. Bobby was a drama queen and she just wanted some hood pointing on the side. Janet makes several attempts to calm Bobby down, but his ego couldnt take being the side dude. Thats his fault. There was nothing playa about his behavior.

Janet just wanted some good strong sexual healing. Something she wasn't getting at home. Bobby gave it to her but he wanted all of her and she wasn't having it. I suspect she didn't want the extra baggage that came with him. She put something on his ass because he was willing to do anything except stay her side dude. He says in this clip that it didn't matter that he could have any chick because he was shooting for Janet. Bobby still talks like he loves Janet.

Motown 25, was recorded on March 25,1983 in LA. The following week MTV placed the video for Billie Jean in heavy rotation. The moonwalk is an old tap dancing move called the back slide, not the "back step". And yes it was Jeffery Daniel who taught it MJ. Mowtown 25 aired in May of 1983.
